Gareth Bale on the “Wales. Golf. Madrid.” banner:
“The Spanish press destroyed me. I did not even touch that banner. I used to play once every two or three weeks, and only on days off.
“I never played for eight hours. I always did it with complete professionalism. But people don’t know, so they invent things.”

I get why Wales fans like it and he did get rough treatment from the Spanish media, but he brought it on himself.
If a Cardiff player went on international duty and had a flag like that we'd rightly be livid.

None of ours are good enough to play for wales. Nothing we need worry about lol.
