Alex Robertson continued his fine pre-season form against European giants AS Roma, starring as the Bluebirds ran out 4-1 winners.
“It was very good, a very enjoyable afternoon.” Alex began. “I thought we played really well, and played the way we’ve been working on all pre-season.
“Obviously everyone knows they are a great side, a great club with a lot of history, but I feel like today we looked past that, and just thought it’s another team that we’re playing against. I thought we did really well as a team - that scoreline kind of showed that - but we have to just keep pushing on from this because there were a lot of great things in the game to build on.
“I feel like we are in a good spot, we’ve had some good pre-season games and there is a lot of great stuff that happened in this game we can just build on.”

Alex is looking ahead to the season proper getting underway.
Alex Robertson:
“We have to be confident as a team and just keep trying to build on each game and find good bits, find the bad bits, analyse them and just work on them every day in training.
“Look at last year when we played Chelsea; they were obviously a great team and we played really well, albeit the result. We’ve got a great side, a lot of young players who just want to do their best and show the fans what they’re about, and hopefully we can do that again this season.
“I feel like the amount of wins we had last season, every week as a team, probably puts us in good stead for coming into this season, and we’ve just got to keep building on what we have been doing."
The Australian international has found himself playing in a more defensive-minded midfield role for the Bluebirds throughout pre-season, and commented on this subtle switch of position.
“I enjoy it! At Manchester City when I was younger it was the same formation as it is now, and I played in the six, eight and ten. I learnt from it when I was younger to play every position in midfield, so I will play wherever I am asked to play.”

He seems to really be coming into his own. I can't think of many players, if any, who have been more comfortable with the ball at their feet. He's just effortless with both his right and left.
Not sure what it is though, just can't really take to the guy. I listen to his interviews and there always seems to be a smugness there. An 'I'm too big for this club' type of vibe I get from him. I guess it's not important if he does the business on the pitch. Would love to know what the problem was this time last year though.
Think he's gonna be great for us this season.

Big fan of Robertson.
Someone pointed out on social media that he never stands still. He's always moving around without the ball to try and find space, probably something he learned at Man City.
I think he is one of the most talented players we have.

I think the guy is just confident in himself and his ability, and if that morphs into the team, I’m more than happy with that!
After a staggered start to last season, where BBM seemingly gave him some tough love, he got better as the season evolved and for me, he was one of the players that made me sigh when his name was missing from the pre-match team sheet
I’m sure he can play at a higher level, hopefully with us, and I feel this season will see his stock rise

I have a slightly different opinion. He is very neat and tidy, as his apprenticeship taught him but at 6 I think he gets caught out of position too often and is prone to wayward passes.
Too me he is a better 8, but i feel this is BBM's project of this season, thus why Wintle had to depart.
