Police storm homes after violent clash between football fans at station

May 1st 2026

Twelve men have been detained on suspicion of violent disorder following a clash that broke out after the recent match between Middlesbrough and Millwall.

According to Cleveland Police, trouble erupted at Middlesbrough railway station after the game on 3 April, where groups of rival supporters were involved in fighting. Two men were initially arrested at the scene on suspicion of violent disorder.

A further ten suspects were later detained during coordinated police raids carried out at 11 properties across Teesside, including locations in Ingleby Barwick, Thornaby, Middlesbrough and Stockton.

Chief Superintendent Martin Hopps said the arrests demonstrated firm action by officers and underlined their commitment to keeping the public safe before, during and after matches.

Police also confirmed that items of clothing were seized during the searches as part of ongoing enquiries.

Hopps added that anyone choosing to engage in violence would be pursued until they are identified, arrested and dealt with accordingly.

All twelve men have since been released on conditional bail as investigations continue.

Pity they don't spend as much time, money and effort on shoplifters and illegal immigrant rapists

My thoughts exactly. And all of the scum on this supposed "terrorist watchlist" should all just be deported to save more time and lives.

As far, as I concerned, people who get involved in this kind of thing are just a bunch or morons.
Make them tidy up graveyards for the next 10 years
I don't know who pays for policing on Match days it much cost a fortune
Money which could be used for more serious crimes

This is so true
Why aren’t they arresting these Albanian grooming gangs who are using woman as prostitutes and cutting them up with chainsaws , yes this is what is going on in Newport and people don’t know the half of it , BUT they are arresting fans for fighting instead cos it’s too easy
Disgusting this country is in a mess

As a veteran of ‘Operation Javelin’ and others I can probably give an opinion on this

Football fans are 100% an easy target, my home was raided early in the morning and I was locked up all day and interrogated, I was made to feel like I was the scum of the earth whilst the truth was neither side actually got near each other. I was charged with Violent Disorder and told I could face up to 10 years in jail.

We were one of the first lot to go through it and looking back we were probably lucky as those after us started to get actual prison sentences. Luckily for us not many of us did as they offered out a lot of plea bargains just to get convictions, which most, including me, understandably took

Some of the statements given by the police were laughable, all water under the bridge now I suppose. I have mates who have been to jail for 2 years plus for stuff that’s happened at the Football, it’s absolutely mental when you look at some of them the other sentences that get dished out for far worse crimes

Because they have to waste the time on petty criminals causing distress to the public because they are super hard when they are in gangs.
I agree though this country is a disgusting mess with that type of behaviour thought of as ok, amongst all the other issues we have.

You right they are an easy target because they are stup beyond and commit crime in front of loads of cctv. Which they know about.

So tell me if the police ignored it you think the country be a better place, you don’t think it be absolutely chaos on match days with gangs of pussies walking around intimidating people?

Police are good at soft law control such as pushing wheelchairs around hospital, 5 car's turning up at a car stopped on a hard shoulder, walking around sporting events, shepherding gay marches and other demonstrations.

Shit at in your face protection..

They should be patrolling the streets at night .

Stop and search.

Stop electric scooter drug running .

Clean up city centres .

Look after thier own.
