Mark Harris was meant to come on loan

I have it on very good authority Mark Harris was coming on loan in January. This was at the behest of Wales as they wanted him to play but both clubs and Mark were keen.

Harris then scored for Oxford and Oxford striker Prelec had an injury setback but it was set up apparently.

He scored 19 in league one a few seasons ago so I think he would have done us a job.

Don’t rate him so not sorry it fell through. No offence mate

I’m not offended at all. He’s not related to me. :D :D

He’s a better 9 than anything we have though, for those that want an actual striker.

Sorry should have said that we have fit now.

Harris is better than Robinson at this stage but Salech a lot better.

Better 9 than Kellyman yeah. Not a better footballer.

I think he would have done a job for us as his goal scoring record in L1 for Oxford was good and although has limitations he works hard closing down the opposition and BBM likes the high press

Agree with the OP would have been a decent loan signing.

Definitely wouldn’t want him permanently but a better number 9 than Kellyman.

He’s not good enough for the championship and if that is where we want to be then he isn’t a permanent option.

His press (when done alongside others) is very good.

Harris is perfect for this system. The striker is not meant to be the only source of goals, his work rate and willingness to run in behind is what we are missing without Salech drawing the center-halfs to him.

They don't respect Kellyman's ability to win any battle; he needs to get the ball in space and run, then he makes you look silly, he doesn't think like an off-the-shoulder striker so he doesn't run in behind, and they are all so comfortable with that.

Ashford up top for me today, but he won't do that

IF TRUE ???

That would make BBM a liar as he said we did not need a new striker in January and he was happy with our small squad

19 goals in league one not that long ago.

That’s the level we are at now.

Championship is a league higher.

Not at all.

He said that at end of the transfer window.

We didn’t need one but one coming in would have been good.

It was wales led is what I was told. The wanted him to get minutes before the playoffs and possible World Cup and Harris wanted that too. He still likes Cardiff.

This came from the kit man at Oxford who coaches at Cam Brannagan football academy. I had heard previously Harris was lined up to go out on loan. Had never heard it was Cardiff before.

I think we would be top had we signed him. Score for fun at league one.

15 in 40 games last time league one.

We would cry for that this season.

Would've been a decent signing as cover. Works hard, presses well. Runs in behind, not the greatest when it comes to goalscoring but would give defenders something else to think about other than someone dropping deep and looking for a cut back from wide areas.

For 3 odd months, would have been a no brainer for me.

Does anyone really think this would have been a good idea?

Incredibly average player.

Not even League 1 standard.

A striker who doesn't score.

How he's ever had an international career is a mystery.

If BBM had agreed to this proposed move he would have gone down hugely in my estimation.

If this is the level we’ve dropped too then it’s much worse than I thought. Awful player.

Thankfully we didn't bring him in.

Rather us stick with Rubin or Kellyman as the striker.

He scored lots at league one level. Had we got him on loan we wouldn’t be struggling against the better teams. His press is good and he scores league one goals at the same level Salech did.

He’s not a championship goal scorer but if he was he wouldn’t be at Oxford.

International level is not reflective of how he would have done for Cardiff.
