Kim admits it was not easy to decide which club to sign for with Celtic, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool among others showing interest.
He chose Cardiff and signed a three-year contract after talking to Mackay because has felt there would be more chance of eventually playing regular first team matches and says: “To be honest, it was not easy to make the decision to join Cardiff.
“It is a very new experience for me.
“I’ve never played in Europe before so I did not find it so easy to make the choice.
“But I wanted to play for Malky Mackay and I like the fact that Cardiff is not too big a city. Everybody has helped me settle in and I am enjoying my time here.”
He made 41 appearances for Osaka, scoring 15 goals, and also had a loan spell with Japanese Division Two club Oita Trinita, scoring eight goals in 27 appearances.
“The speed of Championship football is very different to matches in Japan and Korea,” he said.
“It is more of a physical game and the speed of it is a lot quicker than I have experienced before.
“I need to learn things here first, the league style and find some kind of harmony with the league and my fellow players.”
