Couldn’t happen to a nicer club.

Can't see them staying up. Teams around them are picking up points, even Harrogate got a point today.

But it's been coming. They've just about survived for a few years and that's unsustainable in the long term (as we found out last season), especially as they have such a low budget.

And good luck to them. I know some people on this site don't like them and they dont like us but its one of the few places locally where you can watch a game like we used to watch it. Stand where you want, blood and thunder football, no over stewarding. Like going in time back thirty years. Plenty of pubs close to the ground add to the attraction. I go two or three times a season and always enjoy it.

I’m genuinely pleased that Cewnty have stayed up, as I never see the rivalry that that set of supporters would like to believe is there. It’s good for Newpot and it’s good for those who helped put that club back together!

I think the rivalry - such as it is- goes back to a brief spell in the 80's when they had a decent side and were our equals in footballing terms. That rivalry continued a bit after that when we both went into decline until they dropped out the league. I was glad to see them back.

I don't know how they keep surviving.

Teams like them, Harrogate etc will always find it a struggle because there are teams with much higher budgets in that league.

MK Dons spent loads (in relative terms) to go up. Salford gave spent a bit too and are in the play-offs.

So teams like Newport will struggle again next season. I hope they survive again but it will be tough. Would imagine York will come up and be competitive in that league, recent winners of the National League have gone on to do well.

I remember those days. They had some decent players, including at one stage, John Aldridge, who later went on to become a star at Liverpool, but never saw them in the same way I view the ‘Jacks’ or the ‘Wurzels:bluebird:

County were a sly bunch

Followed small groups of us back to cars whilst those on the train with an escort were left alone , about 40 of them

We were only 19 and had parked in a small multi story near the shopping centre , luckily a police van clocked them and helped us out

Also Tommy Tynan, Nigel Vaughan, Carl Elsey, Steve Lowndes. A good side who nearly got to a European Semi final and I think they beat us 1-0 over Easter in a promotion 6 pointer at Somerton Park- though we went up eventually. About 16,000 there that day - half Cardiff- though we did go up eventually. I agree with you on the Jacks and the Wurzels.

Glad they survived, even though had a few tasty moments at Somerton Park..

Never felt they loved us .
