Frank Lampard is now the favourite :

Postby Forever Blue » Tue Nov 19, 2024 7:18 am

Frank Lampard is now the favourite to become Coventry City's new manager, according to the bookies - and CoventryLive sports readers in our comments sections have been weighing up who they'd rather have out of the frontrunners to replace sacked manager Mark Robins.

Talks between Lampard and the club are now at an "advanced" stage, according to Sky Sports. Lampard, 46, has been out of management since a tough spell in charge of Chelsea 18 months ago, but does have success on his CV from guiding a young Derby County team to the Championship play-off finals in 2019.

Other leading names include Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has left Manchester United after a short interim spell as head coach. His notable wins come from the Dutch top flight with PSV Eindhoven, finishing second in the table and winning two cups during the 2022/'23 season.

Lee Carsley will shortly hand over the reins of the England national team to new boss Thomas Tuchel, and is highly regarded for his work with young players. He has not shown much interest in coaching at club level, but he has coached, managed, and played for Coventry City .

Someone on here said he was told ‘not to bother applying for the job’; or did they mean our managerial job…? :?

I saw that Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher all said Lampard could stay away from that job because of the way they treated Robins.

But Keane also said that beggars can't be choosers.

Right, told by ‘others’ and not Coventry City FC…

Lee Carsley and Ruud van Nistelrooy have drifted significantly in the next Coventry City manager betting.

Carsley had been a close second favourite for the top job at the CBS Arena behind Frank Lampard, while Van Nistelrooy had completed the bookies’ top three after his exit from Manchester United. But Carsley is now 28/1 to succeed Mark Robins and Van Nistelrooy is 11/1. Robbie Keane is now the second favourite at 10/3, with Lampard now the clear frontrunner at 2/7.

But that can't be right, people were pointing to them as the prime example of how fast getting a new manager should be.

Yes hence my comments? The problem is people very quick to have go at ccfc but in reality same thing happens all the time in football unless owner goes behind the back of coach and gets new one in before old one out door which happens.
