Was put up at 5am this morning in Bristol City Centre.

BLM now want statues put up in every Town & City.


Bristol Council say they had no permission and it’s illegal.


No planning permission and never even asked for permission.

The council will request those that put it up to take it down. Those who did it will deny puting it there. They will prolong it for as long as they can. Eventually the council will take it down.

I think this goes to show how disrespectful this organisation is. They think they can do what they want whenever they want. We have processes in place for good reasons and they need to repsect them. If they are not happy with that then they go to the ballot box. That is what everyone else does so why should they be the excpetion?

Perhaps the blm movment should all move to africa if they are not happy with the way life is in the uk and where it is predominantly a black population and black people have more of a say in day to day running of all things if the uk in there eyes is so bad

Perhaps they could sort out the mess there and help there fellow brothers to be a more peaceful society at bit like the uk for example.

Then the protesters will be out in force at the council offices, then the area of the statue to protect it.

Having said that if they are all kneeling down the removal crew should be ok.

Hope it is unceremoniously ripped down and thrown in the docks.

Jen Reid: Black Lives Matter statue to go from Colston plinth

A sculpture of a Black Lives Matter protester, placed on the plinth where a slave trader's statue was toppled, will be removed, Bristol's mayor has said.

The sculpture of Jen Reid was erected early on Wednesday at the spot in the city where an Edward Colston statue was pulled down during protests last month.

Ms Reid had been photographed standing on the empty plinth.

Mayor Marvin Rees said it was up to the people of Bristol to decide what would replace the Colston statue.

Artist Marc Quinn said his black resin statue, called A Surge of Power, was meant to be a temporary installation to continue the conversation about racism.

He said he was inspired to create it after seeing an image of Ms Reid standing on the plinth with her fist raised during the Black Lives Matter protest on 7 June.

Mr Quinn then contacted Ms Reid through social media and they worked together on the statue, which was erected shortly before 04:30 BST.

A sculpture of a Black Lives Matter protester has been removed from the plinth where a statue of slave trader Edward Colston once stood.

The sculpture of Jen Reid was erected on Wednesday but removed by Bristol City Council just over 24 hours later.

Ms Reid had been photographed standing on the empty plinth after the Colston statue was pulled down during protests.

Mayor Marvin Rees said it was up to the people of Bristol to decide what would replace Colston's statue.

Bristol City Council contractors removed the sculpture of Ms Reid on Thursday and took it away in the back of a lorry by 05:30 BST.

The authority tweeted to say the sculpture would be held at its museum "for the artist to collect or donate to our collection".

The black resin statue of Ms Reid, called A Surge of Power, was created by artist Marc Quinn and designed to be a temporary installation to continue the conversation about racism.

He said he was inspired to create it after seeing an image of her standing on the plinth with her fist raised during the Black Lives Matter protest on 7 June.

Ms Reid said she had felt an "overwhelming impulse" to climb on to the plinth during last month's protest, and the sculpture "is about making a stand for my mother, for my daughter, for black people like me".

Bristol City Council said the sculpture of Ms Reid would be held at its museumSpeaking in a Facebook Q&A on Wednesday evening, Mr Rees said it was important to gauge people's opinions on a replacement for the Colston statue, but he felt an empty plinth was "a very powerful statement at this time".

"We have to move forward because racism is with us and pulling down the statue was a stand against racism," he said.

"We want the fuller story of Bristol and by telling that story we will be in a better position to make judgements on what we choose to celebrate, who we celebrate and who we are.

"Our belief is that process will put us in a better position as a city to have a discussion and come to a collective view to what we put on that plinth, if anything."

For someone who has ," Black Family and Friends" you're not clued up on matters black Annis.
The Black fist raised doesn't represent the Lies that you have spread, it represents solidarity and togetherness with oppressed people. Black power is a vile movement who have hijacked this salute to the oppressed. Irish republicans used it as a symbol of unity against the british.

The statue was removed after a couple of hours and not after days or weeks. It has no right to be there and thus correctly removed.

Most Black people don't give 2 hoots about historical slavery they just want equal opportunities and treatment. Black on Black violence is nothing to do with equal treatment as some brain dead on here suggest. Taking a knee isn't political because it it is, you are accepting that there is a political bias. Taking a knee is a personal choice and not a requisite. Nobody on this board would do it and they are not made to so just live with it.

As for a poster suggesting sending Black people to Africa i don't know where to start with that?
