Cardiff City FC is delighted to confirm the signing of Emyr Huws from Wigan Athletic, subject to international clearance.

The Welsh international midfielder has agreed a three-year deal, keeping him with the Bluebirds until summer 2019.

22-year-old Huws played 29 times in the Sky Bet Championship while on loan at Huddersfield Town during the 2015/16 season, scoring on five occasions.


The young midfielder has already scored at Cardiff City Stadium, netting for the Welsh National Team during their friendly with the Netherlands last November. To date, Huws has made seven appearances for his country.


Speaking to Cardiff City Player HD on the morning of his signing, Emyr said: “I’m chuffed to be back in South Wales and really happy to join a big club like Cardiff.

“I know most of the coaching staff from Wales, and can’t wait to join up with the boys now and get started.”

Emyr is Cardiff City's fifth summer signing, following the permanent arrivals of Lex Immers, Frédéric Gounongbe, Kenneth Zohore and fellow Welsh international Jazz Richards.

Wez, I believe Trollope believes in him and will get the best out of him.

I also think he will do better for us than he did for Wigan,under Trollope's guidance

Some reports are also saying 1 million Annis, I'm not bothered either way, great signing and he'll do a job for us that's for sure.

I heard earlier that Wigan originally wanted upto 2m but it was 500k going up to 1.2m based on appearances as they wanted him gone as they have or got a replacement. Not sure how much truth is in that though.

There is no doubt that Huws is a player with potential.

That potential hasn't come to fruition just yet for the young lad but I sincerely hope we will see him flourish at Cardiff City.

I am looking forward to see what he will do.

I think a loan is most likely, and after most of our recent loans I don't feel too confident

Lets hope they all perform Sunday - and the fans continue to back the team and get the stadium rocking been a while now lets hope there are good times ahead

Will add much needed quality in the middle, has the ability to play as a deep lying midfielder but also has a eye for goal, scoring some screamers over the last few seasons. PT just needs to find the right balance in midfield no and if we can ship a few out (I respect it's easier said than done), bring in a out and out striker then I think we'll be challanging for a top 6 challenge.
