Kimbo released by Japanese side

Wed Dec 09, 2015 2:11 pm

Our £2.5m signing, god knows what on wages. Has been released by Matsumoto Yamaga, they were 15th out of 18th in their league table.

Bloody hell  what's happened to him? J League 2 should be a stroll for him, I don't think he is that bad a player

Matsumoto Yamaga were promoted to the J League after coming 2nd in the J League 2 last year... They are struggling big time and have only picked up 13 points in 17 games leaving them 3 points clear of 18th place. I can't even see any official information anywhere to show that he has been released by them though.

My guess would be that they simply can't afford his wages (If he has been released). They have also released Shogo Shiozawa and Shunsuke Iwanuma (whoever they are) but that may well be down to the fact that Matsumoto Yamaga can't afford to keep them.

Could well be that, interesting to hear about his career, wouldn't be surprised to see him play in his native s.korea, not sure there will be many clubs chasing him in Europe

Was excellent for us end of the promotion season and the beginning of the premier league season, so much for using us to help further his career and join a big European side.

Another player wrecked by Malky or just over rated ?

IMO - A very skilful player without the physical attributes to make it in the more physical Euro leagues and wrecked his confidence

Overrrated. We paid far too much for him and gave him wages that didn't represent his ability.

Let's be honest, we all thought Kim looked an absolute bargain towards the end of our title winning season. He looked a level above the Championship, just a shame he couldn't maintain that level of performance. I think confidence had a lot to do with it.

Heard he's signing for the Kawasaki ninjas. They want to play him in a no.10 role alongside Toshiba and bush.

I didn't think that. I remember his performances during our last away games that season, at Burnley he was bullied off the ball far to easily, and at Hull he was responsible for one of their goals. Overall he was a flash in the pan, one or two moment of brilliance, but not consistent. I did think he played well when we played Man U at home though, but not a lot before or after though.

2 goals and 3 assists in 28 appearances in his first season.
1 goal and 0 assists in 31 appearances in his second season.

Stats aside, the second half of our promotion season he looked like he was going to be a class player and showed real signs of promise.

As did Daehli when he was here but of course if there not setting up 10 goals and scoring for fun their shit.

He wasn't up to the Premier and had problems with the physicality of the Championship. Malky gave him a chance and for a while it worked, but he didn't do a lot at Wigan either, did he?

Re: Kimbo released by Japanese side

I remember him having one stormer against Blackpool away in the Championship, and setting up one of the goals in the win against Man City and thats it.

Massively overated, never justified the money we spent on signing and wages.

Ozil scored none and set up none vs Olympiakos but had a stormer. While I agree Kim was over rated stats don't mean everything.

He was decent, plenty of tricks up his sleeve and good control but too weak physically to do much damage.
