Steve Zodiak wrote:Of the 20 odd people who have voted no, it would be interesting to know how many of them supported us when we were a crap side struggling in the bottom divisions, and how many of them started supporting the club when we became a half decent side. I wouldn't think there can be many people who followed us during the bad the bad times who want anything to do with red. They have been around long enough to value our history, and what this club is all about.

I Have supported the City through thick and ( mostly ) thin since 1959. And I voted "NO"

Well you've been supporting this club 7 years longer than I have, and I am surprised that you can't understand why some of us feel so strongly about our identity. You've spent 50 years watching some of our great players (and some really useless ones as well) play in blue. We are called the bluebirds, and we've always been blue until a person from half way around the world who knows nothing about football, nothing of our heritage, and nothing about the culture of Welsh people decides to change us to red. Chairmen and owners come and go, you've certainly seen a few, but us fans are the one constant as far as the club is concerned. We were here before Tan, and we'll be here long after he's gone. The least he can do is show a bit of respect to the long history of the club, and to the supporters who pump their hard earned wages into the club year after year. You pay your money the same as everyone else, and you are entitled to your opinion. I have nothing personal against those who wear red, they are perfectly entitled to do so. I just don't understand them, particularly the ones who were around when we thought 5,000 was a good crowd.

This is an acceptable response and you pose some good questions. Although I would prefer blue to red, I think of my club as being Cardiff City rather than the Bluebirds, which after all is a nickname. When I saw the City cinch promotion in 1960 they played in white against Aston villa at home. When they played Portsmouth in the FA cup final they played in black. I desperately wanted us to win both games, shirt colour simply did not come into it. Now if Tan changed our name that would be a different matter entirely. In that case, not only would I stop going to games but I wouldn't even bother to check the results.

I would obviously watch us play in different colours where a clash with the opposing team means we have to play in red, or black etc. I still believe we should be blue unless rules state we have to change for a particular game. We certainly have different views regarding this topic, but at least we can debate them without slagging one another off. Whatever people may think, we all follow the same team and should not allow any owner to divide the fan base to the extent where people are getting abusive towards each other.

Well, that's one way to answer a question.

Re: POLL - " Should we unite as one and protest again? "

What would it achieve? Nothing! Should of been done from the start when it actually meant something, the re brand has gone to far to make any difference from any protests, sure it will tell tan and show media we still care but in reality that means shit all now, to little to late for something to be done

Personally i will carry on buying blue :bluescarf: and support the team i love its a pity the fans are divided

There wasnt a big party,by myself, I walked out and sat in the Ninian Park Pub,realising how false it all was, watching the fans on the pitch.

Chris,
Every time we want to protest,we either hear its to late or what will it achieve, thats just looking back all the time and with that attitude thats why our fans have not all risen up. Also it gives us fans a sense of pride again :thumbright: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

100% agree with that, if we want our identity (basically our club) back, then fans need to stop looking back and instead come together and fight for our club.

The club I force myself to follow right now is an insult to the Cardiff City I grew up watching.

I think the walk out of the stands at 19.27 could be a good idea, it gets everyone who feels strongly about it in one place, under the stand where everyone will no doubt all start chanting, under the stands will make a hell of a noise and if we get a few videos, it will make a big impression on You Tube, plus it makes an impression in the stands and possibly on TVwith numbers heading downstairs on mass :bluescarf:

Pessimist I am but how many times have we seen these war cries of a protest, a large followed one.. in reality a one off protest isn't going to solve much, needs to be done on repeat, that is the truth of the protests with City in this situation.

Re: POLL - " Should we unite as one and protest again? "

Thu Dec 11, 2014 10:45 pm

There wasn't any real protests come on guys, there was a couple of "we will always be blue" chants but the vibe was very much of celebration, even songs that we were coming for the jacks next year. There was excitement in the air not doom and gloom. Lets not pretend we have been bastions fighting for our identity because we haven't.

I dont want to come across a bit of damp squib but even this protest discussion has the wrong feel about it "will make a good impression on youtube" and "we may as well because the football is crap". It seems its more for show and an attempt to regain some respect amongst football fans rather that actually fighting for the colours. Tan isn't going to give two hoots if you leave the seat you have paid for after 19 mins (and guaranteed not everyone will do it). As a poster said on the other thread, its like paying for a meal and then walking out.

The only protest id be up for that doesn't seem self serving - is simply not attending. Empty stands.
