Cornelius says Tan doesn't understand football

Cornelius says Cardiff City owner Tan doesn't understand football.

Andreas Cornelius will want to forget his time with Cardiff City pretty quickly. Before he joined he was considered as an excellent young striker and now he's labelled as a flop, aside from a healthier bank balance the 20 year old has gained nothing.

There were leaks to the British press that Vincent Tan was angry because he'd given Malky Mackay funds to buy a Bentley and he'd ended up with the Toyota of Cornelius. The player, now back in Denmark, has answered back and said the comparison shows how little Tan knows about football.

BT.dk quote the player as saying "I've never met him, so it must be for his own good. It just shows that he does not understand football, you can't compare footballers with cars. You don't know what you get in the same way as when you buy a car. There are many other factors that come into play, so you can't just compare it that way."

Cornelius acknowledged that a return to Danish football was a step back in standard but refuses to think it's bad for his career, thinking he can continue to develop there. In terms of development; he thinks he's making progression having returned to FC Copenhagen, which gives an idea of how he felt at Cardiff.

"It's great to be back, I think. Now I can just focus on getting everything back on track. Of course, the Super League is a step backwards compared to the Premier League, but purely in terms of development it is not a step back, but more a step forward for me."

Cardiff fans will have been disappointed that Cornelius wasn't able to perform for them, but the vast majority will agree with his comments about Tan knowing nothing about football.
