' Just ordinary, nothing upfront ,disappointed But Now '

Our season begins at home to Norwich, in a must win game.

Theatre of Dreams  Dire atmosphere, Manchester United played like an ordinary team, which worries me as we might of held possession a lot, but we only had one proper shot in 90 mins, Noone shot over the bar in the first half and that was all we really created . Man City were a different class than a United and I felt we should of got something out of them, it was def not the Man a United of old.

Fair play to the City fans with the BLUE cards, our fans certainly looked BLUE tonight keep it going

We have now had 4 League defeats in a row , we must put this behind us and hope that Ole's virtually new team by next Sat of hopefully 7 players pays off as at the moment this current team in my opinion is going no where.

The real test starts against Norwich City at home this Saturday, let's fill the stadium and create an atmosphere of a club showing they have no intentions of going down  :ayatollah:

A quick question have we a leader on the pitch?

It's still totally in our hands and the games and the points are there so there is still no reason why we can't stay up :ayatollah:

I agree the season starts Saturday with a must win.

You mention 7 players but in reality how many would start? Zaha maybe but otherwise I'm not sure any of the others will make a big difference at this stage.

Is Zaha going to sign? - this transfer seems to be taking forever :?

Might be a crazy idea, but imo. Ole should try this at home vs. Norwich: Eikrem for Whitts, Zaha for Bellamy, Daehli for Mutch (Daehli's best position), Fabio for John (I think John played pretty decent vs. United, but Fabio is better) and Jones(/Berget) for Campbell (let Fraizer come on when the defenders are tired and his quick feet can be a real asset).

Other than that, looked pretty decent today. Definitely seen some good football vs. both of the Manchester teams - I like the way it's heading - from now on there are LOADS of easier matches to be played - a lot of them even possible of winning.

I know, but I'm hoping us being up there tonight was a chance to finalise all the details. We need something different and hopefully he can be it

We have new players since those matches AND the players have had more time to mould into Ole's philosophy. It's going to be fine, you have my word on it :happy1:

But that was when we were in transition and we have looked better every game since, but have had to play top opposition.

Cardiff City boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits: 'We have to start picking up points to survive'
28 Jan 2014 23:25
Solskjaer was once again pleased with aspects of his team's performance but knows results in February will define the Bluebirds' season

Cardiff City boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer declared himself happy with his side's performance at Old Trafford, but challenged his players to now start picking up some Premier League points.

Goals from Robin Van Persie and Ashley Young consigned the Bluebirds to defeat against Manchester United and the Bluebirds remain bottom of the top-flight.

It has been a tough month fixture-wise for Cardiff, but with February now bringing home games against Norwich, Aston Villa and Hull, Solskjaer is convinced his side is capable of moving clear of the drop zone over the coming weeks.

"I was pleased with the overall performance. In terms of possession and how we kept the ball," said Solskjaer.

"But obviously when you get that start with Van Persie, it was a great goal from him, a goal-scorer's goal, and that is what we lacked. We didn't have the oomph. We lacked a bit in the final third. We need more cleverness or shrewdness.

"But the mentality of the boys, the way they kept it moving was pleasing against a good team. I want to see them come out on a stage like that and express themselves. They did, but in the final third we needed more urgency. We'll get there. I have seen some development. I'm positive we can stay up."

"This month we have had away games at Arsenal, Manchester City and United and we have seen this team develop

"Now it is time to get points next month. The situation we are in means we need points not just performances. In February we are in a different position. We've got three home games in teams in the second division of the premier League if you like. It's going to be an important month - vital really. We need points on the board."
Solskjaer has welcomed striker Kenwyne Jones to his squad and full-back Fabio from Manchester United with a deal to bring in Wilfried Zaha on loan also almost done. Of his confirmed pair, Solskjaer said he was looking forward to getting them on the pitch.

Not crazy and think Ole will go for that other than Daehli for Mutch.

A lot will change when the midfield and full backs realise they now have to join Frazier in attack. Seems we are still adjusting to the Ole Method.

Personally I think Malky was making us hard to beat while maintaining contact with mid table, which is all we could ask for in our first season. Then Vincent began getting paranoid and ruined things(again)

Disagree with a lot of posts here as well as Annis's OP.

I thought we matched United for most of the game and had a couple of spells when we were well on top. We had more possession than Man U at Old Trafford which is hugely encouraging. We played with a lot of width and boldness, even if we were restricted to a slower tempo. They did what United have been doing for a long long time - they scored at the right time. Just a couple of moments of top top quality made the difference. Their second goal (nearly) killed us, but we were looking very likely to get an equaliser at the time.

Ole was extremely unlucky to have his hand forced with substitutions which left him with no control from the sidelines. Hudson had a very good game also up until going off and I'm glad Ole is giving him the chance to prove the moaners wrong (again). He could be an asset over the next few months.

Up front. Frazer looked burnt out towards the end. He is a Premier League player for me but has been asked to do too much for too much of the season because of a lack of other options. I suspect he will make a hugely successful super sub (Ole style) for much of the rest of the season. But if Ole is to get one more player this window, I would like another striker to give us a pool of talent and options to choose from.

I wish I was there tonight. On TV the away support sounded absolutely amazing!! Most of my favourate games with City are away games because the fans are class and man for man (or woman) make much more noise.

I'm excited about seeing this CCFC team play over the next few weeks. I think we have a lot of quality and I think we are staying up.

United were comfortable to be fair. It's a shame because this is a poor United side with poor self belief and unity. Had we equalised in the 1st , the second half would have been v interesting. Their second goal was disappointing, I couldn't see the playerbut he gave young far too much time ffs.

They had just signed Mata for £37 million and RVP and Rooney had just come back I would hardly call them poor. if we had played the team they put out in the week I felt we could have gotten something. Johnny Evans had a really good game against Campbell but we lacked attacking threat today

Re: ' Just ordinary, nothing upfront ,disappointed But Now '

I actually thought City played well tonight and losing 2-0 was a very harsh result. Unfortunately, they were given what I thought was a dodgy first goal as McNaughton was taken out in the build up, then Ashley Young scored a wonder strike. I thought we played well but we had 2 injuries meaning we couldn't really use any subs later on to change our attacking options. Losing Mutch was a massive blow as I thought we were easily the better team until he went off injured. Without Mutch we lacked penetration from deep, Mutch is our only player who can carry the ball forwards from deep, drive towards goal and beat players to open up space.

As of united ordinary  RVP and Rooney back and new singing Mata to give the whole place a boost that wasn't the united side of the last few weeks and they didn't look like they were suffering confidence.

I think it was an alright performance - had the Old Trafford crowd booing at their own boys at times :)

With a little more strength on top combined with Campbells pace, and som creativity in the midfield it might just work out for the Bluebirds!

But then again - Sunny now have had 5 matches to implement the teams way of playing, and it's time to get some points :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I think we all know January was going to be mission impossible, I think its a positive we have come out of it only 1 point away from 16th .

Going to Old Trafford was always going to be very tough, I dont think United are ordinary they are just a little out of form but as usual we dont seem to have played them at the best time, squad boosted by the signing of Mata and the return to the squad of Van Persie and Rooney, three of the best players in the premiership.
Having more possession than them is a bonus, now we have to work that into cceating chances like we did against West Ham. As Annis says the season starts now and we need to start a run together and I fully believe we are capable of doing so under Ole.

As for your question Annis, do we have leaders? I should hope so, Caulker has been captain for a number of weeks. Hudson is a top draw Captain who also played. Then we also have Bellamy who played.

Jinks, Always blaming Malky and always blaming previous, managers/owners etc
No thanks to Malky's great reign, no appreciation for what he achieved, No wonder football has No loyalty nowadays.

As to much better football by City last night, last night showed no improvement than two months ago, one shot on goal in 90mins, hopefully against Norwich this Saturday we can really go for it and Ole will know all his strengths and weaknesses as it will be his 6th game in charge and Ole loves playing attacking football, so with Norwich,Jacks,Villa,Fulham,Hull,Stoke,Palace etc all coming up soon and there for the taking, I feel we should be able to comfortable climb out of the relegation zone  :ayatollah:

To me United did not look like a class side last night far from it and 5 defeats at home this season and their worse run for 20 years, I honestly thought City would get something from the game,BUT Norwich home is up next and lets fully get behind the Bluebirds :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

It`s easy to say we are dissapointed and should have gotten more out of the match against a Man U who "sucks"

Man U have not been playing great BUT they are 9 Points behind Top 3. We are bottom of the League and 31 Points behind.
We had no new players in the team while they had RVP,Rooney and Mata.

So tell me: How many teams from the bottom of the League have you guys seen go up to Old Trafford and play ball like we did?

How many teams have had more possesion than Man U at Old Trafford this year?

You can have all the possession in the world, but if u dont create anything in front of goal and only have one shot at goal, then you dont deserve anything from the game. That def is not the United of last season and the facts are all there to see. Manchester City were pure quality the other week, United with all their class players, looked ordinary last night and have been all season.

I'm afraid we havnt a leader and we still havnt got someone who can put the ball in the net. We could also do with an experienced (i.e. Premeier league, La Liga, Bundesliga) centre half along side Caulker, with some mobility, pace and able to pass a ball. We are still going with Whittingham also, he is not what we need in a scrap to avail relegation. :ayatollah:

We could also do with an experienced (i.e. Premeier league, La Liga, Bundesliga) centre half along side Caulker, with some mobility, pace and able to pass a ball. We are still going with Whittingham also, he is not what we need in a scrap to avail relegation. :ayatollah:

I def think were missing a leader and so far this season all Whitts has done is pass, pass, pass sideways or back and never does anything with the ball.

I think it will be a disaster if Mutch is out for long.

Ofc we didn`t deserve anything. We weren`t exactly playing Man U out of the park. But it seems that the Man City match has made us forget that we are at the bottom of the PL. We are at the bottom for a reason and as such our hopes should not be as high as many has voiced on this forum.

I take the positives with me. We had the ball alot, we showed that we can play a ball possesion type of football without making ourselfes look like a Conference team.
None of the other teams from the bottom have gone up to Old Trafford and owned the ball like we did. The boys looked safe with the ball today and it shows in the possesion.

I did not expect anything from this match and was surprised that we managed to deliver the match we did. But it shows that we need to stengthen the Squad in attack. As you said, we dont create anything.
