Cardiff striker Andreas Cornelius to miss league start
CARDIFF could be without Denmark striker Andreas Cornelius for the Premier League kick-off after he damaged his ankle in training.

The Danish striker injured his ankle during training

Manager Malky Mackay said: “We’re working to get him back for the start of the season. His ankle is sore but he is back running.”

Craig Bellamy also missed Saturday’s 1-0 win over Chievo having been laid low by illness, but Stephen Caulker made his debut off the bench following a £9m move from Spurs, as Cardiff kept their first clean sheet of pre-season.

Awful report.

"Cardiff striker Andreas Cornelius to miss league start" - indicating that he's definitely out for the start of the season.

"CARDIFF could be without Denmark striker Andreas Cornelius for the Premier League kick-off after he damaged his ankle in training." - next sentence says he could be out for the start of the season.

How does that work out?

As I said in another thread I think Malky is playing mind games over who we will start with against West Ham

I think he would start him. Why pay 7 million odd and not play him!

because he might need time to adjust to the english league? like kimbo its obvious he has stacks of potential to be really dangerous, but he is still very young and looks raw to me tho ive only seen him at the cheltenham game. i would imagine he will start off on the bench and see how it goes. he is one for the future like kim

I think it's a different situation to Kim. Kim came from the far east, count speak English and not familiar with the European game. Cornielius comes from Denmark where I imagine the football is similar and the culture isnt as far apart. Plus he primed and ready to go so wouldnt need the time to adjust that Kimbo did. We wouldnt be paying 7 million for a player thats not ready IMO

I don't think Malky will risk it and rush him if he's not fully fit for West Ham. I think he will make his debut against Man City the following week :ayatollah:
