A forum for all things Cardiff City

Why do so many people in Cardiff seem to hate the City. I was watching the game in a pub in Cardiff yesterday(not one I frequent usually) when a f*cking nob proudly boast's to his City supporting mates but load enough for everyone to hear " I hope Cardiff go up so they get hammered in every game"
None of his mates said a word, I felt like chinning the c**t, if it wasn't for the fact he was in his fifties I would have said something to him. I can take the abuse/banter from other clubs, but not from people from my own City it really winds me up.
I hope his wife fucks of Christmas morning.

He probably can't wait for the away trip to see Manchester United play Real Madrid at Old Trafford.
I was still amazed for the Carling Cup Final that I had one mate who was born, bred and lived all his life in Cardiff... had tickets in the Liverpool end supporting Liverpool! Am I missing something? I don't understand how that works??? He has no association with Liverpool except "supporting" them since a boy.

Everyone is entitled to support who they like unfortunately, but I,m talking about the real anti Cardiff stance you encounter on a daily basis in this City.

They are probably just people who support teams that aren't Cardiff and hope that Cardiff don't make the Premiership because then they will look silly.

Were you drinking in the discovery???

A lot of people that are anti-Cardiff look at the club as a source of shame on the city after the hooligan days, and even though those days are over people still believe that we are a club full of thugs etc. It's a shame but it's true.

That's not true. Most people are wankers support premiership teams and have never been to a game.
There not fans they are ass holes

That doesn't explain why they hate Cardiff so much though, does it? We're on about different issues.

I've met a load of sad fucks like this. It usually stems from Cardiff fans giving them stick about glory supporting.

I'm confident in saying this was in the discovery pub in lakeside and i was one of his city mate lol. This guy is my uncle and was on a wind up, hence why none of us said anything back to him

Get it all the time from my mates. Most support Premier League sides and never seen a live game in their life!

Can you refine 'True Welsh' for me

I know what you mean.
A lot of the lads in my college say similar things, they all "support" Arsenal, Man United etc

There are plenty of reasons.
1. They are plastics and seeing their home club achieve threatens their 'plastic' clubs status in the PL.
2. The hooligan reputation of Cardiff in previous decades has also skewed many peoples views of us today.
3. Some humans have an IQ lower than 12.
4. There is far less loyalty these days so therefore people are more likely to go against their own.
5. They think they are unique supporting something different than people in the City - i.e. attention seeking - no one really cares if they're from Cardiff and support Spurs yet to them its some sort of 'oh, look at me, im different'.
6. We've just been taking over and have rich owners who have invested in the club and that leads to jealousy, especially for fans of clubs like Liverpool who financially are going through dire times and can only spend what they earn whereas before they were bursting the bank and signing the likes of Torres and Alonso.
7. The truth hurts them so they take a stab back at you - These fans usually can't take being called a glory supporter or plastic because they know deep down its true and they're too lazy to properly support a club so it really hurts them when you call them it. So they respond with something that is just way out of order.
8. Single motherhood is increasing - more single mums and fathers out of question (whether they have left or denied access by the mother) means children less likely to go down the stadium. Its far safer for little Jack to sit on the sofa and watch Manure where his mum can watch him.
I'd say 3 was pretty much bang on the money though.

Works both ways - lots of kids I was in school with supported Liverpool etc now regulars down the city, and a few boys who played now retired, also regulars.
If he's too old for a chinning, suggest white pepper on the palm of the hand, say 'Oi mate', he looks round and you blow it up his nose.
Always a winner.

I lived and worked in Cardiff from 1976 until 2010, and came across people who really disliked CCFC. Some are plastics who support other clubs, but a lot are egg-chasers, who just can't handle the fact that CCFC ( and Swansea, to be honest ) are much bigger than anything that their game can come up with. That is why so many of us hate the egg so much. And a lot of middle class people in Cardiff (and there are a few!) think that they are above the type who go down the City. Most of City's support comes from the Cardiff working class, the valleys, and M4 corridor. The Welsh establishment have always hated football, and us in particular.

Wasn't some bald bloke with a jar full of spiders and checking the spelling on all the signs for mistakes, whilst constantly washing his hands and checking the light switches were off was it?

if you think it's bad now just imagine what it was like in the 80's when we attracting massive attendances of 3,000 + -lol
it was pretty grim if you were a city fan back then in your own city
imagine if they were things such as messageboards back then -lol
