CARDIFF CITY: CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONE!

Sat Dec 22, 2012 5:20 pm

Cardiff put in the display/effort they needed to today.

Marshall, Bellamy, Whitts, Hudson, Connolly, Taylor, Conway & even Rudy all stood out as Cardiff's vast improvement from the posh game was noticable.

We retained the ball well, we passed well and more importantly, we didn't give the ball away as cheaply as we have in the past.

Malky made the right changes today, when tactics needed to be altered, and when tired legs needed a rest too.

Millwall lost, Leicester (obviously) lost, Boro lost and now we all turn into Huddersfield supporters for an hour and half hoping that our closest rivals also lose.

If that does happen, Cardiff will face Palace with a 5pt lead over them, which gives them a little breathing space for the upcoming next home fixture against the eagles.

But for now, Cardiff remain at the top of the chart! Christmas number one!

Well put, the effort was there to be seen, even Cowie ( I did curse when he came on but played well )

I would also give Kim a mention. Thought at times his link up play was incredible. He is perfect for the style of football we are trying to achieve. I dont have a problem with his so called habit of passing backwards. Possession = safety

I found Whittingham's performance underwhelming again, but Kim seems to have come on a lot. :ayatollah:

think alot of Whitts work went under the radar today. But watching him, he did well off the ball also. And did some tidy defensive work too. He looke better today, than he did in our last game.

"the only way is up" :D

Im not being funny but we have given Swansea a lot of stick for passing backwards. At the end of the day you are right, possession retention is key. If the other team haven't got the ball they can't hurt you and today Kim's interplay with Whittingham was brilliant. I also thought Malky was tactically brilliant in putting on creative players first and then when we had our backs against the walls bringing on the more resilient and fitter players to sure things up at just the right time.
