Wales down 16 places In The FIFA rankings!

England remain in sixth place in the latest FIFA world rankings, while Wales have dropped 16 places to 82nd.

Chris Coleman's side have endured a disastrous year, with their World Cup qualifier win over Scotland in October sandwiched by six successive defeats.

That poor run sees Wales fall below Scotland, who themselves have dropped two places to 72nd after their hopes of reaching Brazil 2016 were all but extinguished.

Northern Ireland have risen four spots to 96th, the only home nations side to improve upon their ranking, while the Republic of Ireland fall six places to 42nd.

The top 10 remain the same, with Spain finishing at the summit for the fifth successive year, followed by Germany, Argentina and Italy.

The biggest mover is Colombia, who won six of their eight games in 2012. They finish in the top five, a jump of 31 places from the end of last year.

FIFA World Rankings: 1 Spain, 2 Germany, 3 Argentina, 4 Italy, 5 Colombia, 6 England, 7 Portugal, 8 Netherlands, 9 Russia, 10 Croatia.

Selected others: 42 Republic of Ireland, 72 Scotland, 82 Wales, 96 Northern Ireland.

Doesnt matter anyway , until we get a young brave hungry new manager we will go nowhere !! Cautious coleman is the problem weve probably got the most skillfull young attacking team weve seen for years and he tries to get them to defend all game even against poor opposition , hes a joke !

Why would France be up there?

They've got a Good team on paper but what have they achieved in the passed decade?

Of course I ignored things that happened a decade ago. None of those players play for the team any more.

Past achievements mean nothing in football especially when it comes to national teams.

the FIFA rankings are based on form of the last 4 years. France haven't done anything meaningful since 2006.

Really pisses me off how the only Welsh goodness sporting wise this year has been from both Swansea and Cardiff in their respective leagues. Our national football team is full of players lacking desire (wouldn't be in this state if we still had Speedo), and our rugby side are currently the biggest Welsh bottlers of the year! Not counting the Olympic Welsh star success because that was Team GB.

brazil are 18th france 17th behind behind teams like greece , switzerland , ivory coast and ecuador ? thats not right any way you spin it . Look at wales we are behind equitorial guinea , benin and the cape verde islands ? come on the rankings dont mean shit and france should be in the top 10 teams in the world easily .
How about haiti being above turkey , poland ,ireland and ukraine ? what a load of bollocks

It's all about form in the last 4 years as I said.

France has very good squad on paper I would agree with you. One of the top 10 squads in the world I'd agree. But if they're not winning games how can you put them any higher in the table?

Re: ' Coleman takes us down 16 places! '

One man isn't responsible for this demise. The players need to take a long hard look at themselves. Some can't be arsed turning up to the squad while those who do either appear to not give a shit or are simply not good enough.

Coleman isn't a great manager but I genuinely believe we wouldn't be doing much better if we had Mourinho. Speed (RIP) done an amazing job with Wales, but let's not kid ourselves we beat some equally poor teams and teams who had nothing to play for during our mini run (Norway, Bulgaria, Switzerland and Montenegro). With the exception of one world class player (Bale) and two or three very good players (Bellamy, Allen and Ramsey) we are a very average team littered with Championship players.

About time people stopped blaming Coleman and started to blame the players.

France have beaten Italy ,Finland , Belarus & Ukraine this year
Plus draws with England ,Uruguay and Spain
Only 2 defeats against Spain and Sweden away
Not bad results in my opinion
Played world and european champs twice plus world cup semi finalists and finalists and only lost one of those 4 games
Cant understand the way rankings are worked out they need revising to make them fairer imo

If I was French I wouldn't be one bit bothered by these latest rankings, just means they go quietly under the radar and can play with no pressure.

Coleman was never the man to continue the good work of speed.
