question for you all,

Tue Dec 18, 2012 7:37 pm

maybe ive missed something in the football world, asked a couple of man ure . liverpoo fans in work. but they dont watch live football so dont really no. how do teams choose which end to play at the start of the game? got to be honest . ive only noticed in the last 5-6 home games, but marshall after the players hand shake. runs over to the canton end, is it still done by a toss of a coin. home teams choice?

We always choose the canton end before the toss and then what happens after the toss is whoever wins toss has choice of ends or kickoff but they normally chose kickoff. On the very rare occasion the away team chose to switch ends.

thanks tenerife, from talking to the liverpoo fans. they like attacking the kop in the second half, if what your saying is correct, which i think is, then why dont teams play mind games. and say no. we won the toss we will play in goals in the canton end. also we might be a little bit lucky in the fact you havent got away fans behind the goals?

That I can't answer I'm afraid, perhaps the away team don't know any different as both ends behind the goals are our fans so it wouldn't really matter to them what end they play at first, just my opinion though.

At ninian park I'm sure we always favoured kicking off defending the grange end !
Not a 100%

100% true and someone on CCMB a few years back posted good stats that showed our win percentage was higher when we started off that way.
