Boss Malky Mackay insists his team will bounce back

Mon Dec 17, 2012 4:48 pm

Malky Mackay has declared his misfiring Bluebirds will bounce back to winning ways for their Xmas crunch against Leicester and Crystal Palace.

Cardiff City’s winning run at home came to an end when they crashed 2-1 to rock-bottom Peterborough on Saturday.

The Bluebirds are still top, because other results went their way, but have two huge matches looming away to fellow high-fliers Leicester on Saturday and then home to second-placed Palace on Boxing Day.

The wrong results in those matches and the Bluebirds will lose their place at the summit of the Championship.

But an upbeat Mackay insisted: “We can play much better than we did against Peterborough and that is what we will strive for.

“It is what we will look at this week. The home run was going to come at some point.

“You want to win as many games as you can, but we have lost games before and it is about bouncing back and finding consistency again.

“The league table shows we are the most consistent team, but we have to make sure we work hard and apply ourselves to the next two games because they are going to be tough.

“Leicester and Palace are two teams up there with us, just like Middlesbrough and Hull were and we played them and beat them.”

Saturday’s clash with the Foxes will complete the first half of the season and, although they might have lost to Peterborough, Mackay said he was more than satisfied with his side’s campaign so far.

“We are disappointed about Peterborough, but looking back at the first half of the season so far I am very encouraged by the group of players I have here and the performances as a whole we have put in.”

“Performances like the Peterborough one have been very few and far between so far this season.”

As far as results are concerned you can't argue with Malky there.

When he says come to a end he sends the players out to win but he saying it ent going to last forever.

Bit worried that our chance to bounce back is an away game nothing to do with our recent form on the road just that it will be tougher than what we usually get for a bounce back.
