Malky and disappointments

Sun Dec 16, 2012 11:10 pm

Considering our performance and result against Blackburn, how could Malky have changed the team except for the enforced one because of the Hudson ban? If he had changed the team and lost posters would have said why change a winning team? I am as gutted as anybody and it has left me in a bad mood all weekend knowing that winning would have left us looking really good in the table. Now weagave 3 really tough games coming up. We simply MUST restore the Gunner to the middle for strength. My other disappointment is the slow recovery of Smith. I am a big fan of his. Originally it was 4/5 weeks now I am told another 2. It's taking a very long time . Our signings of Bellamy, Smith, Mutch and Velikonja have missed a lot of the action for various reasons.

Agree gunnarsson should have played cowie is only good in a five man midfield and mutch is not fit enough imo.
Nugent should have come in as a straight replacement for hudson with connolly staying r/b.
Helgusson is looking more and more tired each game would love to see ettian have a run out other teams wont be expecting that and could catch them out . Im getting fed up of us hitting long balls everytime recently and a change of striker would force us to keep the ball on the deck which is our strength.
Still proud of there efforts this season just worried about us being a bit predictable.

I did read somewhere that MM wasn't keen on playing two left footers at CB, not sure if its true. IMO the defensive change made total sense.

Helguson got three assists at Blackburn so i wouldn't say he was looking tired.

It's quite concerning that we are top of the league and you think we need to catch teams out.
If we had made several changes and lost MM would have got ripped apart for changing the team after that Blackburn win.

The defences made sense if mcnaughton was fit but he didnt really look it and connolly has looked solid at r/b by putting him at c/b it meant him making 2 changes instead of 1 really .
Top of the league or not peterborough watched us and worked us out way too easily , if a team bottom of the table can do that to us then we will be in trouble . We need to be more adaptable and be able to change our style if needed like it was yesterday .The long high balls wernt working and we needed a striker who can get in behind defences which is ettians game, if we carry on being that one dimentional we wont be top for long .

That's the side I would have picked before KO, but seeing how we performed I would have swapped Cowie for Gunnar. Nothing wrong with Cowie, he's a good player at this level and some of the abuse he gets is unreal, but strength was needed. I'm also a big fan of SuperKev, I've stuck with him and still think he's one of the best fullbacks in the division, but his passing seems to be getting worse. Either that or he just can't work with Noone in front of him, Smith compliments him as he's not running all over the place.

Mason should get a start against Leicester though.

Makes total sense.

Kev and smith had a good understanding.
