Real attendance?

Sun Dec 16, 2012 12:08 pm

Various websites including BBC and sporting life are stating our attendance was 22,073.

Is this the real attendance after taking away 'no shows'?

Attendances are based on tickets sold, not how many people are actually in the stadium.

So the attendance was 26,073 :ayatollah:

No it's not, the clue is in the "attend-ance". If you sell 20,000 tickets and nobody shows up, the real attendance is zero as nobody attended.

That's not how it works. Although I believe the official attendance should be on how many people there are in the stadium, it's just on how many tickets are sold. You could easily tell that most of the ground was full yesterday compared to the rest of our home games this season. If all season ticket holders turned up then it would've actually looked like there were 26,073 people in the stadium.

Agreed but normally the real attendance is 18 - 19,000 odd I'd say.

I'd say there was 23-24k there yesterday.

They count every season ticket as a person in the ground plus away fans, comps and walk up potd . the amount of tickets SOLD yesterday came to 26,076 which is the official attendance.
The amount of people who actually go to the ground is a different thing altogether .Our average attendance is something like 21k but theres been many games where there has only been about 18k in the ground really but it was still announced as 21k. Yesterday the attendance was officially 26k but really there was more like 22k imo

Family stand was half empty which is 3,500, plus empty seats in other areas. I think 4,000 no shows is a fair guess. Which would make those websites spot on.

I've already posted it. I'd say closer to 23/24k.

Either way, nobody can say for sure except the club.

i phoned for 2 extra tickets in the family stand for my nephew and his son and was told it was sold out and they had to go into the overflow which was the away end

Let's face it. The attendance is the figure that turns up. Those in attendance.

Tickets sold etc is a matter for the balance sheet, but the official attendance figure should be the number of attendees regardless of how many tickets were sold.

the capacity of the ccs is 26,828 the official attendance was 26,076.So there was only supposed to be 752 empty seats ? there was a good few thousand empty because people didnt turn up but were still counted as attendees . There was way way more than 752 empty seats yesterday.

You cannot count people as attendees if they never turned up though!!!

I wasn't there, my seat was empty and my ticket wasn't used - so I shouldn't be counted as being there when I was 500 miles away.

We all know there wasn't 26,076 in the ground and for that reason the figure shouldn't be given as the attendance. By all means say 26,076 were sold for the game but xxxxx turned up from that amount.

Re: Real attendance?

Sun Dec 16, 2012 4:04 pm

another point is people cramming into the standing parts of the ground to be with there mates leaving empty seats around the place quite a few people in the canton by me do that probably a few hundred around the ground . that could make it look emptier than it really is ?

26,000 bought tickets to attend yesterday

Even if was 22,000 it's still a bigger crowd than you've had at home for 30 YEARS

:-D
