Malkie's and players performance's today.

This is not the first time this has happened to us, when you have been watching the city for many years you get used to it, and are not surprised.
What I found annoying today was that from the time Malky picked the side the make up was all wrong, it was unbalanced, for the following reasons:-
1). Cowrie should not have been picked nor should he be in the team on a regular basis when fit, he is not good enough to be in a side that is fighting for promotion, last year ok in a team fighting above it's weight yes, at that level fine, but this year no way.
2). There was no bite in the team from the off, Gunnerson should have been picked instead of Cowie.
3). Because we did not have a ball winner in midfield, we allowed too much room to their midfield, they kept coming forward with the ball from just outside their penalty area, and not getting challenged for about 20 yards going forward. To me this is why we suffered on a few away games, because we defended too far back.
4). Why wasn't Nugent picked instead of Mcnoughton, you have lost Hudson a six footer, and he is replaced by a 5 1/2 footer, who who's distribution is suspect, and concentration is not alway's the best. Hence there second goal.
5). Why did he wait till they scored their second goal before making any substitution, and the he puts Gunnerson on out of position. To me it should have been Gunnerson for Cowie, Beller's out on the wing, and Mason on for Conway.

I think Malky got it wrong today, but we probably get the normal retoric, "They are fighting for their lives", They are a good team", Malky they were made to look a good team by our inadaquicies.

Today I thought Marshalls display was outstanding, but for him it would have been at least 5-1, Bellermy gave 100% as usual,

But the rest very poor, my ratings would be:-

Marshall- 7
Taylor- 4
Turner- 5
Mcnoughton- 3
Connelly- 4
Conway- 4
Cowie- 3
Noone- 4
Helgerson- 5
Bellemy- 6
Whittingham- 3 worst game I have ever seen him play for us.

Subs-
Gunnerson- 5
Mitch- 4
Gestede- 4

One other criticism :- Peter Whittingham never has been, nor ever will be a defensive midfielder, he is a man of the moment, somebody who waves a wand, with precise passes, and brings players into the game, his corner kicks today were diabolical, and so was some of his distribution today, we need a midfield general, and that is not Peter Whittingham. In the dying minutes of injury time he was the last man defending for Christ sake.

Craig I thought it was a brilliant result at Blackburn, but there were still faults which were not ironed out Cowie being one of them.
You see I keep hearing that one day we will give team a good hiding, to me that would be a top side in the division, but Blackburn were a bad side.
I want to see a side that blows teams away, that then will give me the confidence that we will go up and stay there. Even if we have the additions Malky wants I don't think it will be enough, to give me the confidence to go up, do I want them to go up, of course I do, but not with fill ins.
Gestede won't cut it,
Taylor won't cut it,
Mcnoughton won't cut it,
Hudson, not much time to do it,
Whittingham not premier class,
Turner maybe
Connelly no,
Noone no,
Mason lacks pace,
Mitch yet to see it,
Nugent I really think so
Maynard yes,
Gunnerson no,

Mcnaugton wasnt as bad as people make out. It was the others in defence. Mcnaughton's distribustion is shocking but its not his game. Defensively was great. Taylor was shocking was constantly out of position and didnt track the man. Turner and Connely allowed the number 8 to run the game. No communication between defence and midfield
