We were not at the races today, we can blame the ref and linesman but at the end of the day our performance was nowhere near what levels it should be at.
Whittingham was not on form today, would have been better with kimbo in the middle instead.
McNaughton, well the least said the better.
Helguson, I am sorry but two of the positions he got into today, he has got to hit the target. Helguson could have got a hat trick today but those two misses were shocking to be fair.
Noone was nowhere near the player we know he is.
Even Turner was making mistakes that he would not normally make.
If it had not been for David Marshall today we would have been embarrassed by the scoreline.
I don't think Malky got his tactics wrong I think the players didn't perform.
What disappointed me the most was the way that Peterborough played through us at times, that game today could have finished with ten goals in it.
I am sure we will bounce back from this defeat because of our manager. As much as this defeat hurts the positive is we are still top of the league and we have won ten of our eleven games at home.
So let's get back on track at Leicester away and Palace at home

Whats the stats when Don Cowie starts id like to know.
Sat Dec 15, 2012 7:17 pm
I think maybe Whitts could do with a break. I'm not advocating not starting him but I think he's played almost every minute of every game and it seems to be catching up on him. He's not having anything like the influence on the game that he was having earlier in the season and his set piece delivery today was well below what we know he's capable of.
I would have a few small criticisms of Malky today. I think that Ben Nugent should have started instead of Hudson. It pains me to say it but I think Kevin Mcnaughton's time is up. His distribution is beyond appalling and defensively he was struggling also.
And although Rudy scored, I think it was poor not to use Kim Bo or Mason, both of whom would have been buzzing after scoring last week.
I've tried to avoid criticising Don Cowie too much but I watched him closely today and he did absolutely nothing other than run around avoiding the ball. How he gets selected for every single game he is available for is, for me, one of life's great mysteries.

I think the players underestimated the ability of P'boro. As did many on the board. A lesson to all.

Won 4, drew 1, lost 4.
Not sure if you went to Blackburn but he was excellent against them so deserved to start today, and although he didnt play well today he worked hard and there were far worse players on the pitch.

No time for sentiment.
Don Cowie, at home, does not work.

Very disappointing today, particularly the way they carved us open on a few occasions, our defending for their second was a joke.
I'm convinced we'll bounce back quickly and if we were going to lose a game at this time, the best possible rather than lose to a rival at the top.
Complacency probably played a big part, they didn't look like the bottom side, but I can't remember the last time so many of our players were below par.
Onwards and upwards in the roller coaster league otherwise known as the Championship

Agree. We need more than "worked hard" from our central midfield I'm afraid.

Totally agree, i didn't even think the ref was that bad.Whittingham was not on form today, would have been better with kimbo in the middle instead
He definitely wasn't, but Whittingham should always be on the pitch because we know what he can do, he's earned the right to be forgiven for a few bad games here and there.McNaughton, well the least said the better.
For once, i agree. His passing was the worst it's ever been. Still makes up for it with his defensive work though.Helguson, I am sorry but two of the positions he got into today, he has got to hit the target. Helguson could have got a hat trick today but those two misses were shocking to be fair.
For as hard as he works, i certainly don't think he's a confident finisher. But i am a fan of his.Noone was nowhere near the player we know he is.
I'm not sure what was up with Nooney today, just didnt want to seem to take his full-back on. Conway definitely in the better form at the moment.Even Turner was making mistakes that he would not normally make.
He had an awful game sadly. We missed Huds.If it had not been for David Marshall today we would have been embarrassed by the scoreline.
Sometimes i don't think we appreciate (as fans) how good our goalkeeper is, Premier League quality without a doubt.
I don't think Malky got his tactics wrong I think the players didn't perform.
I certainly think he started with the right 11, but his substitions were strange for me.
The game was CRYING out for Joe Mason, in my opinion. His runs and movement would have opened up space in behind their defence more which i felt is exactly what was needed. Not sure why Conway went off instead of Noone either. What disappointed me the most was the way that Peterborough played through us at times, that game today could have finished with ten goals in it.

We got away with it against a poor Wednesday side, that was a non descript performance, Posh fully deserved the win today against a very poor City side, we were unidentifiable to the side that won at Blachburn, the important thing is that we come back stronger from this defeat, we need to get behind the team and drive them on to automatic promotion.

Come on now mate we aren't allowed to criticise Son of Malky cos he works hard.....Big F*****g deal that is the least I expect of a pro footballer. I lost count the amount of times he got outmuscled today, the one on the edge of the box first half was a disgrace. They sliced through our centre like a knife through butter. Mutch needs game time and should be no room for sentiment when picking the team. He should have started end of story.
Average championship midfielder who should be nowhere near the first team. Cowie is a massive reason Malky for all his good points frustrates the f**k out of me
Sat Dec 15, 2012 7:57 pm
As has been said elsewhere, we paid Peterborough no respect. Got what we deserved. Unprofessional, at best. Perhaps they should have been training all week, not poncing about in Dublin ( so I'm told ).
Sat Dec 15, 2012 7:57 pm
No surprise Whitts hasnt been on the money with Cowie alongside him last couple if games

Mario Polotelli wrote:No surprise Whitts hasnt been on the money with Cowie alongside him last couple if games
Totally agree.
It's like Mcphail having to partner the jogging Jock Gavin Rae in the middle so many times in the past.
Similar scenario.
Sat Dec 15, 2012 8:59 pm
i think the tactics were wrong to be honest, the posh 3 in the middle we couldnt cope with, regardless of personnel... and didnt change to suit.
whitts was way below par, as was turner, taylor, noone , cowie and kev probably the worst of them all.. thank god for marshall...
i personally cannot believe why we dont start with gunnarsson either... no leadership today, nobody with any composure, no idea what they were doing...
really frustrating.. boyd ruined us....
Sat Dec 15, 2012 9:36 pm
We missed Hudson because of his leadership, Whitts wasn't the part today, so what, shit happens, fair play to Peterborough they were fighting for their lives, perhaps the Christmas party in Dublin took it's toll on a few of the team.
Sat Dec 15, 2012 9:47 pm
Carl
Totally agree poor all over the park today and for all you Mark Hudson moaners we missed him at the heart of defence and his leadership qualities. Ok no good slagging off the team we move on next week to Leicester. I'm sure all of us going next week will see a better performance than we witnessed today.

Cowie and Whitts was poor today. Hate to say it but maybe malky needs to drop whittingham if hes playing poorly in a game. The problem with us is that we need to protect whittingham which is not what we did today and allowed them to attack him.
Sat Dec 15, 2012 10:52 pm
My main cocern is that this performance is to close to the last performance we had like this and that being Charlton.
This is not consistancy of which is that we need to go up.
Sun Dec 16, 2012 7:59 am
A GLITCH!! No more, no less.
We feared the worst. That no matter what the players said, or how much
Malky would drill into them that this would be a tough game, the lads would
subconsciously take their foot off the pedal. Well, they did. Apart from the
excellent Conway in the first half, and Bellamy. Nobody was at the races today.
The record had to go. Peterborough fully deserved the three points.
I'm not slagging any of the players off because of one shit day. That would make me
look a hypocrite after all the praise I gave them against Blackburn. But I do kind of
think McNaughton has blown his chance.
We will bounce back.
Sun Dec 16, 2012 9:46 am
Bad day but nothing more lets hope we bounce back
McNaughton, well the least said the better.
He's been like that for last season has well sadly .
Sun Dec 16, 2012 1:01 pm
Whitts is still being played to deep rendering him ineffective
Sun Dec 16, 2012 2:19 pm
Went straight on the lash after the game so haven't checked in here for 24 hrs.... quite sensible responses, I was expecting carnage.
It reminded me of the Boro game 2 seasons ago - I hope its not the same reason !!!
A blip, glad it happened against Posh rather than a competitor, they came to play and didn't they. Hope they stay up.
Definite wake up call...... We need a right back very quickly...

Bledd10 wrote:I think the players underestimated the ability of P'boro. As did many on the board. A lesson to all.
Yes so do I. What concerned me is that the Peterbro players seemed more comfortable in possession than we do. They passed the ball well and moved into space to receive the pass. Taylor was poor yesterday and Super Kev was awful. We are desperate for at least one fullback in January. I'd like two but MM is in love with AT. Having said all that if HH had put his chances in we'd have won the game. Our 100% home run was bound to end soon but I didn't expect it to end yesterday in such a feeble way.
Sun Dec 16, 2012 3:29 pm
missed hudson, but not really because we were weak at cb, but mcnaughton was awful yesterday.
Cowie really isnt good enough for where we need to be, and mutch was even worse when he came on.
Positives? well marshall obviously, i thoguht Conway had a good first half, and gestede looked sharp when he came on, but thats really it.

Not sure what you mean by that, obviously we are the most consistent team as we are top of the league and picked up more points than anyone else.
and since the Charlton loss we have picked up 16 points out of 21 points available - pretty impressive IMO and a bit better than consistent.

Connelly will be fine there next Saturday. It was a mistake putting McNaughton in
and he perhaps should have had more faith in Nugent. However, it was the whole
team off the boil, except for Bellamy and Conway. Maybe Whitts IS too quiet to be
Captain??
either way. Forget worrying about 'how comfortable Peterboro looked on the ball' ...
on another day we will play them, our players will be on top of their game and we will
thrash them.
Just a bad day at the office.
We will get a point at Leicester
Sun Dec 16, 2012 4:50 pm
If Malky could of made ten substitutions then he would of I am sure. Marshall apart they were pants and after watching the replay of the free kick that led to the goal I believe it wasn't that clear cut and both players were a bit OTT
