It interests me to find out what people prefer:
Do you prefer the stadium full fully well knowing a lot of the fans are part time 'plastics' so might say, but makes the stadium full and obviously an increase to the atmosphere.
Or do you prefer the stadium to have a few 1000 less in there but all the fans that are there have been there since the start this year and aren't just jumping on the bandwagon now so to speak, and if we start losing again they will disappear ?
Personally I prefer the stadium full, but is there anyone that feels strongly the other way ?

I agree with that, but I also see a lot of people on here calling Swansea fans filling the stadium plastics now, so I'm assuming a few people will be pissed off with our 'plastics' turning up for the Palace game and taking up tickets that maybe others could have had

everyone's had long enough to get tickets.

The vast majority of fans are casual. It's simple maths: Over 200,000 active fans on the database, out of which around 25,000 max turn up per game.

200,000 active fans on the data base, that is a lot. So most games we are getting 1 in 10 fans showing up then

I'm not in access of the actual figures but it does look like it's now the average attendance is around 10% of the database. At Ninian Park it was around 17%. I don't know but I'd guess that a massive chunk of those 200,000 only went to one game within the last few seasons.
Annis will love this because it shows that at Ninian Park people returned to more games than they do now at the new stadium. This stat though is currently being well hidden by higher numbers. Fact is though those figures show that the casual fan returns less now than they did at NP.

Back in the day, Cardiffs most loyal fans were their Casuals. Not all obviously, but a very large portion of our away support, especially mid 90's, was football lads.

By "casual" I don't think the OP was talking about how the fans dress or their obsession with crap disco music. I think he meant casual by only comes to games now and again.

does'nt matter as long as they get behind the team but i do remeber in the play off final with qpr towards the end of extra time i stood up when the tension was getting to me and being told to sit back down they were like neutrals watching a game on tv

There's a thin line for me. Those who only go to big games (Cup finals/playoffs/big cup draws) can feck off.. But those who attend only a few games a season can't be called casual fans. They may not be able to afford anything else!
The ones that annoy me the most are the ones who say "well I support City & _____"
For me, you can't support two teams.

full stadium every time

The way forward they say is to accept all fans incl glory hunters.
But I find the atmosphere is better with just the loyal fans.
Fri Dec 14, 2012 2:44 pm
Annis very serious question for you then and I'll be interested to hear your own opinion on it.
Do you think the atmosphere is better when only 'loyal' fans show up was because we used to be the underdog in games, and obviously playing teams regarded as better than us we would get behind the team more. R.E Middlesbrough game this year for example was by far the best atmosphere because it was back to the walls job.
Then when more people show up and we play teams we are expected to demolish so people aren't as pumped for the game ?
OR do you have a different view on it ?

Yes there is a lot of truth with that, when we were the under dogs are fans got behind the team much more and when we lost two main defenders v Boro we got behind them then.
But I went to Blackburn last Friday night, I would say I new virtually every face up there and we were scattered about, but we sang our hearts out for most of the game. When we played some of the earlier Carling Cup games last season at home, there was more singing with the stadium more than half empty than there was come the Sat with over 22,000 there. We trued singing non stop where we sit, they look at us gone off and dont want an atmosphere.

I don't care what type of fan goes I go to watch the football.

Just a quick point about your database, I had to sign up to buy tickets for Wales and Scotland, so there could be a fair number on there who have gone through the website for Wales tickets and are counted in that figure.

I used to get regular e-mails from Cardiff City keeping me up to date on the news and special offers, took me f**king ages to find the stop option...
