" POSH WILL BE TOUGH & WHO REMS PREVIOUS YEARS ? "

Peterborough will be tougher than some fans think, they always are under Darren Ferguson, we score, they score. It was a nightmare at Peterborough away, when we were were winning 4 nil by half-time and then 4-4  :o All the way home and weeks later I could not get over it. Who remembers?

Will it be different under Malky?

' Cardiff City v Peterborough United: Goal bonanzas in recent years '

Peterborough United have caused Cardiff City plenty of heartache in recent seasons

As Malky Mackay's table-topping Cardiff City go into Saturday's clash with Peterborough United looking to extending their winning home run to 11 straight games, we take a look at two goal-fests that have been played out between the two teams in recent times.

So Bluebirds, as you recount all 15 goals in these two clashes, be warned, the men from East Anglia never lie down.

1) December 28, 2009:

Peterborough United 4-4 Cardiff City

At Christmas 2009, Cardiff City memorably squandered a 4-0 half time lead to draw 4-4 with Peterborough United.

Dave Jones’ Bluebirds had been clinical in their finishing at London Road as Joe Ledley (2), Peter Whittingham and Jay Bothroyd stormed them into a 4-0 lead as current keeper Joe Lewis endured a torrid 45 minutes at the office for his former club.

Boos reverberated around London Road at half-time as Peterborough’s players slunk from the pitch. If they only knew what was to follow.

The busy Craig Mackail-Smith and George Boys got things going for Posh in the second half, the former playing in Josh Simpson, for their first and the latter setting up Charlie Lee for the second.

Then when Boyd bundled one in for himself, the hosts sensed an upset.

It was then Lee who finally turned provider by hurling in a throw that Simpson latched onto in stoppage time and the rest is history.

Despite the result I really enjoyed the 4-4 game. We were made to feel very welcome by Peterborough fans and London Road was a proper football ground - my only visit there. Trying to be objective, you couldn;t fault it for entertainment and that kid ball juggling at half time was amazing

It was a good point that Jonesy got us away from home, helped to get us into the playoffs.

Never forget that 4-4.

I cannot remember last time I stood in a packed terrace standing stand. The sway of the fans when we scored, well you just had go with the flow. At half time 4-0 up and don't think I ever felt so comfortable about winning a game and was expecting another 4 the second half. The day turned out to be the biggest let down of my football careering watching life but worst of all it showed me what mercenaries we had playing, managing and running the club.

I had a few arguments going then from diehards claiming none of the players cared about playing for the club, a manager who did not give a shit and a chairman who was running the club down. Besides one ore two of the players they were spot on. Personally I feel the club are still suffering from that ghost of a game at London Road although we have got rid of all our failures exclusing those one or two players. Just glad it is not away this Saturday.

Posh away 4-4 was horrific. One home game against posh which sticks in my mind is the weekend after we beat leeds 2002. We were still buzzing and they came to ninian and beat us 2-0.

With all due respect to the visitors, there should only be one winner tomorrow. They've been leaking goals for fun and are bottom for a reason. We've invested heavily and are on a good run of form. Football is a funny old game and as pointed out, we've seen it too many times before but there will be no excuses if we don't win tomorrow.

I dont underestimate any team in the Championship.
Anyone can have their day
we've shipped 5 in a game against an 'ordinary' side.

I just want us to continue the professional job we are doing and not get carried away.

Keep your feet (and the ball, Ben!) firmly on the ground.

Annis, was last year much better at their place losing 4-3 after being ahead 3-2 with about 3 mins of normal time left? Won't be an easy game and there's definitely goals in it but I hope we will be too good for them especially with more players coming back from injury ie Smith it just gives Malky more options again :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Might be wrong but didn't we lose at home to Posh in the league the week after the Leeds FA cup match ? We were simply awful that day, a real "After the Lord Mayor's Show " performance!

Dear Malky,
Please don't let the team take the oppostion too lightly tomorrow, with the 4 following fixtures we may need a points buffer from the likes of Boro, Hull, etc.

It was indeed a 5-0 pasting on 1/1/1992, what a nightmare that day was.

John Williams sent off just before half time. The ref was John Lloyd an ex Wrexham apprentice who gave us absolutely nothing.

That 4-4 game was bonkers, if we had played a minute longer we would have lost 5-4.

Tomorrow though nothing other than a Bluebird victory :ayatollah:

No excuses.
