Had a quick chat with him this morning, his house is just a couple of hundred yards from mine, he is decent enough to be honest.

People seem to think Wigan are a well run club because they don't spend much money, they're not. They've got debts similar to yours and even though the debts are owed to Whelan and are very unlikely to be called in they run on a loss every year.
He's a great chairman but the credit must go to the board for how the club has been run so well in the past 10 years.

Carlos, I have heard from people within their Club(u know who) how well he has run their club financially and how well run it is behind the scenes. That I must applaud him on, but they are still NO 2 to us in support.![]()

Wonder how he would have got on if they had missed out, or with Martin Morgan's support.
Didn't exactly make a success of his own business did he ?
For years he just made a fool of himself, so full of bitterness toward us, now he isn't harping on about that he sounds a lot better.
One of the best football finance articles here and their take on the last few years at Swansea.

However I would give him credit for picking good managers - especially Martinez.

Without that promotion they would have been in a similiar boat to Cardiff(although not as drastic) having to sell players to finance their debt.

It was an £8.2m loss. The vast majority of which was down to bonuses and transfer clauses that were invoked the second the final whistle blew at Wembley.

board took over, and as Huw said on the programme last night, we only spend the money we bring in.

Had he any idea he would have easily have capitalised on the potential of Swansea City.
He could have rebranded them and had their home kit a yellow like Brazil given the fluid style of football they play but no, he has no clue whatsoever.
The nickname the Swans is terrible for PR. They should have been called The Mighty Ducks to expand to America and target the Disney lovers.
A pink away kit would have targeted the ever growing female fan base.
Thankfully we have owners who are masters at brand awareness and generating income from foreign shores. Swansea will never make massive profits because only South Wales and England know of them really.
Jenkins doesn't have a clue. FACT!

Indeed, but the official accounts show the figures which back up my statement. The only reason we ran at a substantial loss was due to the bonuses and transfer clauses that were invoked that the club knew could be paid for by balancing the books the following year with the Premier League money, as it what happened.
That's how the club is run.
