You'll be in big trouble unless you pay your deposit for Scotland

Online shopping is killing the highstreet. They aint the only ones who are bang in trouble

Do me a favour and change the record mate !!!
Thu Dec 13, 2012 10:24 pm
I bought a load of DVD's blu-rays and games but all online.
Save money on travel and you can price check in seconds, it's a no brainer.
And if I wanted to purchase music I would do it on my phone now. Sad but true

went into HMV during the weekend and it was packed fair play but people just go in there to buy stocking fillers really.
Fri Dec 14, 2012 2:36 pm
all their own fault, always been the most expensive record shop to buy cd's from, crazily over-priced.
Fri Dec 14, 2012 2:40 pm
HMV usually sell more in the month of Dec than they do in the other 11 months combined.
Fri Dec 14, 2012 2:41 pm
As someone who tries to buy vinyl wherever possible their vinyl is horrifically expensive compared to what you can get mail order/online. I really hope they dont go under - otherwise there are very few music shops on the high st. And that would be a real shame. I'd be gutted for my kids.

People often moan about these high street stores going under, but they wouldnt if people shopped in them.
These things dont happen because business is booming, its clearly not relevant to enough people.
I'm sure HMV just make up figures and slap them on CDs, I was in there recently and an album from the 90s which was not rare or limited edition was about 18 quid, and an album from a couple of years ago was a fiver.
Music shops are great to walk around and flick through the artwork, but people then go home and order online.

A governmental fixed pricing structure is needed IMO to save the industry. Prices need to be regulated.
The older the music, the less it costs. Every year £1 depreciation rate on it, similar to the structure with cars and the depreciation.
The free market is failing.
As soon as HMV and other music stores go under the likes of iTunes will whack prices up again.

was always going to happen, amazon and play.com both easier and cheaper, HMV haven't kept up with the pace

its not just hmv. its city centre shops in general. have you seen the next advert. order before 9pm and your order will be with you the next day. ordered my trainers online here 2 days later.

, shopping in town is going out of fashion like the dinosaurs.

Always.
Personally, I remember the days when the same album would be £2.00 cheaper in Spillers than HMV.

I hope they die a nasty death. Companies don't have to make a HUGE profit, they could just make a profit.

Greed. Spillers is still in town ain't it? in one of the arcades.
Shoping online is much cheaper than going into the shop, game for example, they charge £40 for a game and online it's a few quid cheaper with free delivery, you loyalty points are also worth more on there online store
