This.

I'd say we're a fair sized club, but clubs like Arsenal, Toon, Sunderland etc are big clubs.

I think we are, its just that we were in the lower divisions for so long and been trapped in championship for years, doing same trips. A lot of people have supported premier clubs since they were kids, but watch us fly if we have a few seasons in the premier.
If we do ok in the premier if we get there, i think we could get 35,000 a game easy

I think its more to do with how big we could be, not how big we are. For a club that hasn't been in the top flight for generations, and never been in the prem league, our attendances are Good imo. We've come a long way in a short space of time.

The bigger picture is that for 30 years we were badly managed from the board. In the early 70s we were primed for the top division but our board bottled it by selling Toshack. Since then we missed the boat and have sunk. That time I'm sure our board were happy for us to play 2nd tier football, win the Welsh cup and play in Europe of which we might get a big name to play against. Well after playing Real Madrid we hardly got these big games and started to fall down the leagues.

The decline stop when Sam came in. The reverse was dramatic and the big club faith came back. During the seventies we had a numer of games that attracted over 50,000 crowd. Some of us older ones still have those images fresh in our minds and long for a return to that. Will we attract 50,000 crowds again? The possibility is there. Its been done before.

I agree with most of what you say although I seem to remember that Hereford in 76 at NP was the biggest crowd I've ever been part of which was 35k but I've only been supporting city since '73 so could be wrong. But in all my time supporting city I felt more betrayed by the owners and management of that time than at any time since.Sadly though, the size of your support no longer guaranties success.Even Manu can't make ends meet on gate reciepts.
