LEICESTER HOME CROWDS

Tue Dec 11, 2012 10:06 pm

Noticed Leicester Rugby had a home game this week And a twenty thousand crowd, now in a city the same size as Cardiff is admirable because they have a regular home football attendance of twenty thousand plus. Fair play to them, bet the Cardiff rugby would love to have crowds of that size, Leicester people must really be sporty lot. :old:

Leicester rugby have a big catchment area. Bigger than Cardiff's and not so split. Its a big sport in the area with superb facilities, I played local league egg up there for a bit and the local sides had facilities as good as some of the 'Welsh Premiership' teams .

Saying that, if the Blues were as good as Leicester they would get good gates too for big European games - they have had 20k + 3 times when they have moved games to the MS.

As for the footy team they have been in the top divisions most of my life and a fair few seasons at the top with players like Linekar, Shilton and Worthington, and not forgetting Lethal Lynex. Didn't seem to be anywhere near as many plastics up there as there are down here. Its great our crowds are now matching the likes of Leicester and Forest, but really we are still only scratching the surface.
