Outrage At Basket Case Hooligans In Istanbul

Tue Dec 11, 2012 8:18 am

"Fans of fierce rivals Galatasaray and Besiktas have caused outrage after rioting at a wheelchair basketball match. Ten hooligans were arrested following the clashes, which forced the game to be abandoned as the court was left littered with broken wheelchairs and shrouded in tear gas. Sedat Incesu, coach of the Galatasaray team, said 'if hooligans are now seen in wheelchair basketball stands then we have nothing else to say, it is over. Sports are now officially dead in this country.' "

Have to hand it to the Turks, they are mental. I was out there a few years back and Turkey made it to the basketball world cup final? (I didn't even know it existed) Where America absolutely rinsed them, followed by mayhem in the streets, absolute chaos.

Out there this year and there was a football match on, not sure who was playing but someone got a late winner and there was chaos again, tables, chairs, anything that wasn't screwed down was flying around the bar, the police took one look, realised it was locals and just left them to it! A couple of hours later, these blood soaked Turks were all having a drink and a laugh together? Mental, the f**king lot of them. Great people, but mental.

Saw that on the Turkish news last night, full on battle, riot police the lot. Although I couldn't understand a word of what was being said it appeared to me that the riot police got there very, very quickly or were parked around the corner suggesting they knew something was afoot. Riot police would not be in attendance for a basketball game let alone one for the disabled. Back in copenhagen now where there snow on the ground and its f**king freezing..
