Flights to and from the States

Mon Dec 10, 2012 3:55 am

What is the cheapest time to fly to and from the States to Cardiff? What should I expect to pay for one ticket? I doubt there is a direct flight from Nashville, I would imagine I would have to connect to Atlanta?

Maybe that was too complicated?

So I guess my main question is for those of you who fly to the States, is there a cheaper time of year to fly?

Glammy74 would be yer best bet, think he works in Cardiff Airport. I can't get direct flights into there from any of the country's in Europe I work in so getting a direct flight from the US is unlikely. Avoid the june to august period as it's school holidays in most of Europe so more expensive

I think the nearest airport to Cardiff that does direct flights to the US is Bristol, think there's a JFK to Bristol flight, might be a bit more pricey than a flight to Heathrow tho

all i can say on the subject is.. ive been to florida twice. and i learnt that you have to check up dates on flights daily. they do throw in a few lower prices every now and then. i think night flights in midweek are a little cheaper. if i remember rightly. just keep checking

You can fly to Boston, New York and Chicago from Cardiff via Dublin with Aer Lingus. Easier than driving/train to London and not much difference in price.

Im flying back out to Miami in January with Virgin. Direct flights from Heathrow

I don't think they do the flights from Bristol anymore - it used to be Continental Airlines via Newark New Jersey.

Essentially, a flight to Heathrow via any US hub, is usually cheaper than a direct flight.

Book a coach in advance from Heathrow to Cardiff as the train can be ridiculously expensive and a taxi around £200!

I was attending to the needs of a lady in Fort Lauderdale for a couple of years in the distant past and had some website that would flag up the best deals on most airlines but would only get two or three days notice. Fine for me at the time as I was on two years "gardening leave" so could more or less go anywhere at any time. She on the other hand for every two flights she made to Europe got one free from the loyality progs they do over there. I now have somewhere around 40,000 "air miles" this year spread over BA and Star Alliance about enough to get me from Central Station to CCS

Needless to say that website no longer exists! I did once try to blagg an American Airline into giving me the return flight cost from UK to US then pretending to be a silly old fool and got a bit mixed up. Didn't work.

Which reminds me, the money I sent to those two Ukranian ladies, loverly they are, to join me in Copenhagen, Western Union of course, haven't turned up. Hmmm...Although being in Turkey for the last month and half I've probably missed them.

Shame I was going to take them to Tivoli, buy them a meal, MacDonalds and Burger King very close so would have only cost around 40 quid for the three of us then take them to back to me hovel for lesbian sex. Hell I was hoping they'd do me ironing and put the hoover round. Maybe a bit of dusting and perhaps make a nice cup of tea :?

If you want to fly into cardiff it will most likely be with KLM so check the website.

Maybe check the air lingus one as well for via Dublin.

Fly into Heathrow mate! way cheaper, I have been with Northwest Airlines into Gatwick via Minneapolis and Detroit!

use www.skyscanner.net

Put "united kingdom" in the "from" airport field and your destination in the "to" airport field, and the website will find the cheapest airport in the UK to fly to your destination from. Skyscanner searches most of the main airlines, so you'll struggle to find cheaper flights elsewhere.

I flew to JFK in New York from Heathrow in May and it cost about £350 return using skyscanner :ayatollah:

heathrow has the cheapest published fares to the u.s. klm into cardiff via amsterdam is more expensive and you pay more airport taxes on that route..

use delta, or united/american airlines for the cheapest routes, virgin and b.a. do various offers at different times on their world offers routes so worth checking them as they can often change quickly for a limited time.
