FAO Bluebird Since 1948, Student lifestyle is great

Fri Dec 07, 2012 11:33 am

No work to do. :D
Semester almost finished. :D
Free money off the taxpayers. :D
Drinking in the AM. :D
Go out tonight and spend more money on alcohol after our victory vs Blackburn. :D
Enjoy Christmas without having to do any work. :D
Just sit back and get free money to spend on life's luxuries. :D

I think it is extremely bad that us students get stereotyped. We aren't all bad. Some of us just want to have a few pints at the expense of the taxpayer and do nothing all day. We don't harm anyone. :D :D :D :D

How do you feel about this Bluebird Since 1948? I know you love students so intrigued to know your opinion.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Make the most of it, in the real world you pay taxes and NI get 4 weeks off a year, maybe 5 if your lucky. and by the time you retire there wont be any pensions as you will be dead as you'll be expected to work until your at least 105!!!

A mortgage? No I won't. Its income based. 9% of your earnings over £15,000.

Its basically a tax on future earnings until I pay it back.

Also, seeing as I am moving abroad I do not care. :D

Don't talk about a system you know nothing about. :ayatollah:

That applies to students who started this year and I quote;

In the UK, borrowers only make repayments if their income is above £21,000. The same theory applies overseas, although the thresholds vary from country to country. For example, in France the lower income threshold is £25,200, while in India it’s just £8,400.

I pay back when I earn over £15,000 under the previous system. Obviously I will pay back my loan if I move abroad but it still is only a percentage of income. I will be able to live quite happily without a problem.

Just saying. Its not a mortgage. Its more a tax based on income. To pay it back you have to be earning enough to live happily anyway. I will pay it back without hesitation even if I move abroad.

About £20,000.

If I get a £30,000 job which is possible as I've already been offered £26k positions before graduation but want to get my degree to have something to fall back on.

I will pay back £2700 per year. Hardly a massive amount if Im earning £30k in the first instance. I will just do freelance work to make up the difference as well.

£51 per week out of a ~£576 per week wage. Then obviously you have tax and NI to come out of that. More than enough to live on. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

As a student myself I will have to disagree with you.
No work to do! What course are you on? I've got another 2 weeks left (plus 2 weeks after Christmas) with tons of work to do before the semester finishes in January.
How do you have so much money? Lots from student finance? Believe me we will have to pay it all back, and most students aren't as lucky as you. Yes we go out and drink, but my loan doesn't cover my living costs, so I have to work most days as well as do uni work.
No work to do over Christmas? Again you must be on a weird course to have done all your work already, especially seeing as lectures haven't finished yet.
Free money? Unless you're getting it of your parents or you are lucky enough to get a grant it ain't free

We get stereotyped because of people like you giving us a bad image

Full of rubbish mate. I think you are out of touch with todays generation. All TV is online for free mate on demand.

Can't watch live TV though without a licence.

And freelancing can be a dangerous way to go. Need to find someone that wants your work and it requires A LOT of effort. Out of curiosity what free lance work do you plan on doing?

Even watching TV online requires you to have a TV license.
