Taylor calls for City to keep grip on top spot

Wed Dec 05, 2012 6:58 am

Cardiff City full-back Andrew Taylor has called for the Bluebirds to keep their grip on top spot in the Championship.

Taylor returned at left-back following injury on Sunday as Malky Mackay’s side powered back to the summit with a 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

City now head to Blackburn on Friday after taking 13 points from the last 15.

Taylor, 26, who was brought in by Mackay from Middlesbrough in July last year, admits he and his team-mates are now there to be shot at, but he believes the Bluebirds have the quality to keep their place at the top.

“I do think we’ve got what it takes to stay top now,” Taylor told the club’s official website.

“We know it’s going to be difficult because when you are up there the other sides are trying to shoot you down.

“It’s down to us as a group now to stay confident and to stay focused on what lies ahead of us.

“We need to keep focused on the job at hand and keep trying to pick up the wins.”

Taylor has been virtually ever present for the Bluebirds this season making 18 appearances at left-back.

He missed Cardiff’s last two away games, a win at Barnsley and a draw at Derby, with a calf injury, but returned on the weekend.

Taylor signed a two-year contract extension last month which will keep him in the Welsh capital until 2016.

Yeah, that match against Middlesbrough in which he regularly gave the ball away shows consistency. :?

One below-par game does not equal inconsistency.
