Boardwalk has got me hook line and sinker..i loved the Sopranos but the historical fact and figures involved in BWE is top notch viewing.

So with that in mind, whats your top 10 Gangsters/Mafioso

10.Salvatore (Toto,Shorty,The Beast) Riina
During the 1980s and early 1990s Riina and his Mafia faction, the Corleonesi, waged a ruthless campaign of violence against both rival mobsters and the state, which culminated in the assassination of the anti-Mafia prosecutors Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino. This caused widespread public revulsion against the Mafia and led to a major crackdown by the authorities, resulting in the capture and imprisonment of Riina and many of his associates.

9.Frank(the prime minister) Costello
An Italian gangster and Mafia boss. Costello rose to the top of America's underworld, controlled a vast gambling empire across the United States and enjoyed political influence.
Nicknamed "the Prime Minister of the Underworld," he became one of the most powerful and influential Mafia bosses in American history, eventually leading the Luciano crime family (later called the Genovese crime family), one of the Five Families that operates in New York.

8.Meyer Lansky
known as the "Mob's Accountant," was a Russian-born American organized crime figure who, along with his associate Charles "Lucky" Luciano, was instrumental in the development of the "National Crime Syndicate" in the United States. For decades he was thought to be one of the most powerful people in the country.
Lansky developed a gambling empire which stretched from Saratoga, New York to Miami to Council Bluffs, Iowa and Las Vegas; it is also said that he oversaw gambling concessions in Cuba. Although a member of the Jewish Mob, Lansky undoubtedly had strong influence with the Italian Mafia and played a large role in the consolidation of the criminal underworld (although the full extent of this role has been the subject of some debate).

7.Paul (Big Paulie) Castellano
Yes inspiration for Big Paulie from Goodfellas, succeeded Carlo Gambino as head of the Gambino crime family, then the nation's largest Cosa Nostra family. The unsanctioned assassination of Castellano by John Gotti would spark years of animosity between the Gambinos and the other New York crime families.

6.Joe(Bananas)Bonnano
Sicilian-born American mafioso who became the boss of the Bonanno crime family.
Mario Puzo's The Godfather "Don Vito Corleone" Character was largely based on.

5. Jon (Teflon Don) Gotti
The Modern day American mobster who became the Boss of the Gambino crime family in New York City.
Gotti and his brothers Operating out of the Ozone Park neighborhood of Queens, quickly rose to prominence, becoming one of the crime family's biggest earners and a protégé of Gambino family underboss Aniello Dellacroce.

4.Alphonse (AL/Scarface/The Untouchable)Capone
The Main gangster who led a Prohibition-era crime syndicate. The Chicago Outfit, which subsequently became known as the "Capones", was dedicated to smuggling and bootlegging liquor, and other illegal activities such as prostitution, in Chicago from the early 1920s to 1931.

3. Vito (Don Vitone/The Boss) Genovese
Italian-born American mobster and crime boss who rose to power in America during the Castellammarese War to later become leader of the Genovese crime family. Genovese served as mentor to the future boss of the Genovese crime family Vincent "Chin" Gigante. He was known as Boss of all Bosses.

2.Carlo (The Don) Gambino
Sicilian mobster, notable for being Boss of the Gambino crime family, which is still named after him. After the 1957 Apalachin Convention he unexpectedly seized control of the Commission of the American Mafia. Gambino was known for being low-key and secretive. Gambino served 22 months in prison (1938–39), and lived to the age of 74, when he died of a heart attack in bed, "In a state of grace", according to a priest who had given him the Last Rites of the Catholic Church. He had two brothers, Gaspare Gambino, who later married and was never involved with the Mafia, and Paolo Gambino who, on the other hand, had a big role in his brother's family.

1. Salvatore Luciana AKA Charles,Charlie,Lucky Luciano.
A lot of the above names have all at some point been connected or dealt with through business with Lucky.
was an Italian-born, naturalized American mobster born in Sicily. Luciano is considered the father of modern organized crime in the United States for splitting New York City into five different Mafia crime families and the establishment of the first Commission. He was the first official boss of the modern Genovese crime family. He was, along with his associate Meyer Lansky, instrumental in the development of the National Crime Syndicate in the United States.
Closest friends include Joe Masseria,Meyer Lansky,Vito Genovese,Carlo Gambino,Frank Costello and Arnold The Brain Rothstein.
