Anybody done it?
I'm applying at the moment and was wondering if there's any advice that anybody could give me?
And is it worth doing?

I did Camp America in 2001, was an awesome experience. I was at Blue Star Camps in North Carolina. The main tip would be not to go through Camp America! They basically take around 33% of your pay in exchange for getting you a place and sorting out your flights. You'd be better off contacting some camps directly to try to get employment and then once you've got somewhere, sort out your Visa and flights, this way you should get the full Summer wage. (In 2001 I got around $1200 for the Summer but would have got closer to $1800 if I'd arranged it myself).
I'd drop Blue Star an email and say you're interested in working there and say you have had a recommendation from someone who worked there previously. I think Jason Popkin and Tom Rosenberg are still Directors so may be worth addressing any email for their attention.

I did CA way back in 2005 and loved it so much I decided to stay in the US. I can’t say it was easy, there was so much to sort out but I got some great tips and advice on immigration visas and the like from
this organisation. They made the application process so simple. For anyone travelling to the states I should suggest you get in touch and use their information wisely. It can be a bureaucratic nightmare.
