lost the paper part of my provisional, can you just get the paper part replaced ? how much ?

You get issued with a new photocard and paper part regardless

You can do it online and if you have the new chipped passport they can use your photo off that to save you paying for new photos

yes I had to do it a few months back, a simple phone call and its done through your credit card
