Ben Turner

Sun Nov 25, 2012 3:47 pm

Does he have the stomach for a fight?

Since Conolly was brought in to challenge he has been "injured" or when called upon been very shaky.

Im not sure the guys got the minerals for a promotion chasing team.

based on what exactly? :?

I watched him fight to the very end in the carling cup final

I am sure he'll be back as good as ever Polo, just been very unlucky with injuries so far this season. That perfectly timed tackle against one of the boro players sums up Turner for me.. a good defender who we need back asap. But fair play to young Ben Nugent who has done well since coming in to the team too

He'd been out for about 11 months when he come to us and became one of our mainstays, so I'd say yes!

I'll never forget his equaliser against Liverpool at Wembley! :D

To me when he came back he looked like he was carrying a bit of extra weight.

Still an excellent defender and a big asset for us.

Awesome defender at this level and formed a great partnership with Hudson last season. He should be back by sunday so once he's had a few games back he should get back into the full swing of things

The extra weight at Charlton, would have been Marshall! ;)

Think Turner could struggle to get back in with the emergence of Nugent.

I doubt that, but could you imagine the middle of our defence, if you had Turner & Nugent playing alongside other, with them both reportedly being 6' 4"?

If we ever played them during his tenure, they'd surely piss off Tony Pulis! :D

If Hudsons fit that wont happen. Hes Malkys no.1 centre half and rightly so.

Hudson and Connolly for me should be first choice centrebacks when all fit. :ayatollah:

Never said Malky should drop Hudson for either of them, merely speculating about an aerial bombardment, should we ever play Stoke again! :)

Based upon what we have seen this season ! Looked off the pace when he returned.

If fit

1- Hudson
2- Connolly
3- Turner
4- Nugent

Agreed. It didnt go unoticed when Turner come back in the hoofball increased.

Plenty of fight in Turner. Fought back from a nasty injury to be one of the best centre backs in the Championship last season.

Permiership teams offering Millions to take him off us in the summer too.

Ask Drogba how much fight is in him. There was a brilliant photo of Drogba screaming as turner gripped him while they were battling for the ball in the Coventry programme when we player them 2 years ago.

That night he smashed Bothroyd all over the place. Botrhroyd didn't win a ball all night against him, but that's nothing new as physically I don't believe any centre forward has go the better of him -including Carroll.

He'll be back, and although it might take him a few games to get back to normal, when he does he'll be a rock again for us.

i agree! connolly is very confident with the ball at feet, doesnt panic and doesnt hoof it to nowhere. also excellent from corners 4 goals already this season.

i still like big bens tackling, but connolly is the all round better player in my opinion.

the tackle he went off for in the borough game. was a goal scoring chance for them. a good strong hard tackle. that maybe saved us from a draw?

Turner is made to be a premier league defender, he easily fit in.

Turner is an outstanding defender. Anyone who says otherwise clearly doesn't know what they are talking about.
