TEAM V BARNSLEY?

Wed Nov 21, 2012 1:37 pm

This is what I think will get chosen for Saturday providing the following are not ready yet: Cowie, McNaughton, Mutch,

I'm guessing Lappin will start at left back and as all our defensive options have been used maybe Declan John will get in the squad.

Doubt MM will start Bellamy so I'd expect him to be on the bench again.

Will Velikonja get near the squad?

the left hand side of that defence looks really week to me and barnsley will exploit it , kim doesnt naturally track back to help out his full back and with lappin making a debut next to a youngster whos only made 1 proper appearence i can see malkey going with 4-5-1 with 2 sitting defensive midfielders to help out the back 4 and moving hudson to left hand c/b to support lappin whilst connolly talks to nugent , our full back will have there hands full with greening and emile sinclair .

marshall
connolly nugent hudson lappin/ralls
gunnarrsonn mutch
noone whitts bellamy/kim
helgusson

........................................Marshall.........................................

Gunnarsson..............Hudson.................Connolly.............Lappin/John

.........................................Mutch..........................................

Noone..................Whittingham..............Kimbo..............Frei/Bellamy

.......................................Velikonja.........................................

subs: Lewis, Lappin/John, Frei/Bellamy, Helgusson, Gestede, Mason, Ralls

Just hope Whitts doesn't sit too deep again, as in my humble opinion, it's this what is upsetting our away form.

I wish Malky would play with more pace up front when we're away from home.
If only to keep some pressure on the opposing goal with quick counter attacks on the break.
Helgusson for all his quality is too slow for this role.
I'd take Kimbo off on the hour and definitely utilise Gestede as a nuisance factor to support Velikonja, Bellamy and Whittingham.

He might well go 4-5-1 but I think it depends on the fitness of Cowie and Mutch. If they are ready, I think they'll both be involved.

He may even start with Bellamy wide as part of a 5 man midfield.

if cowie is fit he may well play left back instead of lappin/john
