David Beckham available

Tue Nov 20, 2012 12:57 am

Confirmed he's leaving LA Galaxy after the LA Cup final on Sunday, could do a job here, set piece competition for Whitts but where do we play him if we have Noone and Kimbo on the wings or do we put Becks in the center as he has no pace? :ayatollah:

Peter Whittingham is a better set piece taker than Beckham with free-kicks and corners and Whittingham is a better player than Beckham right now imo. I am not joking either. The only thing Beckham would bring to us would be shirt sales and to put even more Man Utd into us. Our glory supporters would love it.

It's going to happen, the Michael Owen stuff was just to generate interest when we were favourites, Vinny Tan knew what he was doing, he's going to bring in David Beckham and then turn him into a Director of Football for us, exciting times for us

Why? I think if the majority of our fans had a choice who they would rather take our free-kicks and corners, the majority would rather Whittingham.

You haven't been watching Whittingham properly over the past few seasons then. If Whittingham wasn't our player and you saw highlights of Whittingham scoring free kicks and setting up goals from his corners every week, I honestly think you would agree he is just as good, or perhaps an even better set piece taker than Beckham. I honestly don't think any player in world football can consistantly take as many perfect free kicks and corners as Whittingham. I am not being biased, if Whittingham was in the Premiership and getting hyped by the media for scoring another free kick and setting up countless goals from corners, he would have a 20 million price tag. Whittingham is the best set piece taker I have ever seen, and will probably ever see in a Cardiff shirt. Those of you who think Beckham is better have fallen into the overhyping Premiership media trap.

 so why hasn't Whittingham ever been called up to the England squad if thats the case..?

I'm sorry but whilst agree Whittingham is good at what he does he would never shine at Premiership level and he knows that hense why he hasn't moved on.

We are talking about set piece delivery here. A set piece is a dead ball. It can be Premiership level, it can be parks level, there is no difference, it's a dead ball kick. My opinion is Whittingham is currently the best dead ball specialist in British football at the moment and I can't think of one player in world football who I would rather stand over a dead ball ahead of Whittingham, including Beckham.

Yes, I can't think of anyone better than Whittingham at the moment. Can you think of anyone who has scored from as many free kicks and has assisted from as many corners as Whittingham so far this season then, because I can't?

I know its a ridiculous notion that we would even be able to sign Beckham but imagine the amount of shirt sales he would bring. Not only here but over in Asia, they love they guy out there and if it got advertised I think it would sell a ton.

But realisticly will never happen

I hear today that a club benefits 5 times the amount he gets paid by them. But alot would rely on his wife and given that she's in fashion I'd say that he'll go to PSG as they were in for him just last year.

Yeah your spot on. They have the money to waste on him and they will reap the benefits
