" Football related arrests & Banning orders "

Thu Nov 15, 2012 3:02 pm

Good news in general but the alarming statistic is the fact that there were nearly 500 banning orders issued in this period,,,this is work we are looking at in the FSF...out of 2,300 odd arrests there appears to be nearly 500 bans...that is a hell of a lot when you consider that most people arrested never get convicted...the convicted figures are not published only the arrests so its difficult to work out.

All in all a big drop in football related arrests which is a good thing...

Out of interest and sad really Cardiff City currently have 135 banned supporters the highest in all the leagues...we have had 16 banned since November last year....next come Chelsea with 112...and Man Utd 98.... Swansea currently have 64 banned...

During the 2011-12 season Cardiff City had 25 fans arrested...5 at home games and 20 at away games.4 were for Violent disorder, 4 for public disorder,2 for pitch incursion,12 for alcohol offences, one for damage to property and 2 for possession of an offensive weapon

9,784,100 fans watched championship football during the last 12 months and there were just 495 arrests in that time( convictions unknown to us)

Policing minister Damian Green said it meant football-related arrests were "at an all time low".

Corky

Have you got the overall Championship stats to post up as the BBC only give overall figures there.

Looking at the stats you give , at least the number of City fans on banning orders is dropping. It was 143 at this time last year , which must mean there have been 16 new ones in the year and 24 lapsed ones.

On arrests , we have had only 24 at home in total over the last few years which must surely show how well controlled our home games are . And our away arrests figure is improving if it was only 25 arrests as it was 61 the year before and 44 the year before that.

You are slowing up in your old age.

Corky posted about this (his original post had the link to the BBC site as well) a good 8 minutes before you. So he was quicker than you (and he has only got one leg!!) :D

I've seen a small amount of aggro down there. Hull City in FA Cup about 10 years ago there was a small off and in a conference game against Luton there was abit of bouncing behind a fence with a scuffle or 2. Usually it is a good crack down there.

Sadly many people take a reduced non custodial sentence and a banning order to avoid going to prison.

It's Tommy my middle boy that needs keeping an eye on. He is absolutely fascinated by the football culture and whenever there is a game on the TV or if we go to a game he wants to know where the away fans are etc and how many they have taken. He is the 1st to notice stewards taking people out etc. In a few years time he'll be reading your books!
