corky wrote:Good news in general but the alarming statistic is the fact that there were nearly 500 banning orders issued in this period,,,this is work we are looking at in the FSF...out of 2,300 odd arrests there appears to be nearly 500 bans...that is a hell of a lot when you consider that most people arrested never get convicted...the convicted figures are not published only the arrests so its difficult to work out.
All in all a big drop in football related arrests which is a good thing...
Out of interest and sad really Cardiff City currently have 135 banned supporters the highest in all the leagues...we have had 16 banned since November last year....next come Chelsea with 112...and Man Utd 98.... Swansea currently have 64 banned...
During the 2011-12 season Cardiff City had 25 fans arrested...5 at home games and 20 at away games.4 were for Violent disorder, 4 for public disorder,2 for pitch incursion,12 for alcohol offences, one for damage to property and 2 for possession of an offensive weapon
9,784,100 fans watched championship football during the last 12 months and there were just 495 arrests in that time( convictions unknown to us)

" FOOTBALL BANNING ORDERS "
The number of banning orders issued fell to 2,750 from 3,173 but some 500 new banning orders - which are time-limited - were imposed during last season.
There were 1,215 arrests made inside stadiums during the 2011-12 season and 1,148 arrests made outside the grounds from all competitions in England and Wales.
Football arrests 'fall by 24%' says Home Office
Home Office figures on football arrests were gathered by the ONS for the first time
The number of arrests from football matches involving teams from England and Wales has fallen by nearly a quarter, the Home Office has said.
Arrests at international and domestic games in 2011-12 fell by 24% to 2,363 - 726 fewer than the previous year.
Policing minister Damian Green said it meant football-related arrests were "at an all time low".

I've seen a small amount of aggro down there. Hull City in FA Cup about 10 years ago there was a small off and in a conference game against Luton there was abit of bouncing behind a fence with a scuffle or 2. Usually it is a good crack down there.
