On the BBC website it was saying that when the Polica inquired into the matter no witnesses came forward. Says it all about Chelsea horrible club

only the police investigation has been dropped . it can be reopened if a witness comes forward and will remain on record for future reference . this guy has had his name dragged publicly through the mud , been embarresed on tv and in papers by these allegations and pretty much had his career ruined . everytime he officiates a game in the future ( if he ever does again ) he will more than likely be abused by idiot fans , many times in front of his family watching either on tv or at the ground which is horrible for everybody involved . i hope the fa investigation into this brings him out as INNOCENT if he is and not just lack of evidence because that leaves him in the firing line everytime and wont be able to defend himself ! if they do find him innocent the players involved need a big ban and fine !

Agree/something should be done,Clattenburg has not refed a game for weeks due to this case and has not put his side of the story forward...but has had to read and hear what has been said about him.
I for one am happy with the result and hope he is not effected by what was cliamed against him.

It was leaked to the media almost immediately after the match that some Chelsea players thought racist abuse was made by Clattenburg. Chelsea had two options.

1) Dismiss the claims and don't make a complaint. They simply couldn't do this. Club Captain John Terry had just been found guilty of racial abuse and banned, if Chelsea ignore these racist allegations against their own players, they look like a massively racist football club.

2) Complain to the FA. Once again, although it was very unlikely that the ruling would go in their favour, they couldn't just ignore it. Now everyone bashes Chelsea for their conduct.

London's Metropolitan Police have dropped an investigation into a complaint made against referee Mark Clattenburg for alleged inappropriate language towards a Chelsea player last month.

The European champions lodged a complaint with the FA over language allegedly directed at their Nigeria midfielder John Obi Mikel by Clattenburg during the home Premier League defeat by Manchester United on October 28.

That prompted the Society of Black Lawyers to lodge a written complaint with the police.

"Enquiries were made and no victims have come forward," the Metropolitan Police said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Without a victim and/or any evidence that any offence has been committed, the matter cannot currently be investigated.

"If the situation changes and a victim and/or evidence to support an allegation of a crime comes to police attention then further enquiries will, if appropriate, be made."

Clattenburg has not been selected to referee Premier League matches for three consecutive weekends following the claims.

He's a shocking ref but the way Chelsea have behaved is appalling.

Pleased the case has been dropped.

Amazed that a Chelsea board member was defending their decision to raise the complaint, which was very dubious from the off, while they fully supported JT during the claims against him.

Hope they throw the book at Chelsea - not only did they 'fake' these claims a number of players went into Clattenburgs dressing room and threatened to break his legs.

Thing is guys its a catch 22

You cannot punish Chelsea because it is seen as discouraging people from coming forward. What if theres a genuine grievance? you cant have someone having second thoughts through fear of repurcussions if you are wrong.

Its like the CPS taking you to court then getting sued if you are found not guilty

If anyone should be annoyed about the ref during man-u v Chelsea it's Man-u, Torres should have been sent off much earlier.
