THIS IS THE BIG ONE CARDIFF CITY V MIDDLESBOROUGH "
So surely a 24,000 plus crowd :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

The 1951-52 and 2000-01 teams both managed nine home league wins in a row – and both teams went on to be promoted from their respective divisions.

CARDIFF CITY skipper Mark Hudson has praised the honesty of the Bluebirds’ squad.

Malky Mackay’s men stormed back to winning ways on the weekend, making it eight wins out of eight at home this season with a 2-1 victory over fellow high-fliers Hull.

For Cardiff the welcome win came after they had squandered leads on the road to lose at Bolton 2-1 and Charlton 5-4, both encounters raising question marks about their automatic promotion credentials.

The Bluebirds remained third in the Championship and now entertain second-placed Middlesbrough on Saturday – with Hudson providing the perfect riposte with his headed winner against Hull.

After recent away capitulations, Bluebirds legend Nathan Blake wondered if Hudson was the right man to wear the armband.

Mackay was clearly angered by such suggestions after the Hull game and Hudson himself says he was just going to get on with the job.

“I’m just here to do my job week-in and week-out and hopefully I can just keep doing that,” said the 30-year-old defender.

“We showed great character against Hull to bounce back after a really poor performance at Charlton. We are a good honest bunch and to get the three points was brilliant for us.”

At home Cardiff have been in imperious form this term, smashing the club record for the number of home league wins at the start of a season.

On Saturday they get the chance to equal the record for the most successive home league wins achieved by a Cardiff side at the start of a season.

The 1951-52 and 2000-01 teams both managed nine home league wins in a row – and both teams went on to be promoted from their respective divisions.

Mackay’s men can emulate that by beating Boro and Hudson said the focus was on making the Cardiff City Stadium a fortress while improving their away form, with trips to Barnsley and Derby before the end of the month.

“We will do all we can to make our place a fortress,” he said.

“And if we can get it right away from home too then we will be well on the way.

“That’s something we are working hard to achieve.

“First, though, we play Middlesbrough at home.

“That’s a really big game with them just above us in second spot, but we will take confidence from our home record.

“We are working hard in training this week, we’ve got things we need to work on and we know how important this match is.”

If another record is to be equalled by the current crop of Bluebirds they are going to have to pull off a good performance against Boro, who are enjoying a great campaign themselves.

Both Cardiff and Boro have won 10 league matches so far and Tony Mowbray’s side are unbeaten in nine league and cup fixtures.

Although they have scored two goals fewer than Cardiff, Boro have spread their goal far wider around their squad.

Justin Hoyte became their 17th scorer this season when he netted in the 3-1 home win over Sheffield Wednesday.

That result on Friday night sent Boro to the top of the Championship before Crystal Palace came from behind to win 2-1 at Peterborough on Saturday.

The Eagles, who recently appointed Ian Holloway to succeed Dougie Freedman, are two points ahead of the Bluebirds and are at home to Derby to Selhurst Park on Saturday.

no excuse not to have a good attendance for this fixture.. the run up to and including the xmas fixtures are really important and will come thick and fast...

one of the biggest fixtures we will get this season and equally as important in maintaining our promotion push over a rival candidate.

eticketing website is showing just over 3600 tkts left... ticket prices are showing between £26-29 quid.. which is still really good for a fixture like this..

Struggling to understand why our attendances are falling to tell you the truth :( Could see why at the start of the season with the re-brand and maybe lately with the away form but with this home record, the players we have and the football we are playing at home(3pm saturday) sure we should sell out our home allocation :) All I know is I will be there and I hope we can get a good crowd :ayatollah: Come on and support the boyz and make some noize :D :D :D

every league club has reported drops in attendance, with the recession and rising cost of living its just too expensive for a lot of people nowadays.

Nothing to do with the rebrand unless the majority of clubs have rebranded as attendances are down everywhere

just look at the poor attendances at Leeds, who are usually a very well supported club.

I think if we get 22,500 on Saturday (as boro wont bring many) then thats a decent showing.

spot on jinks, it has nothing to do with the rebrand as the ones that chose to stay away have been replaced with new fans and as you say the attendances are down I'd say at around 98% of clubs.
I really wish that people would stop jumping on the rebrand wagon as soon as something negative happens at ccfc, I am totally against the rebrand but I'm afraid that cant be blamed for a fall in attendances at the ccs, IMHO :D

I personally think that Boro will bring quite a few but that's just my opinion, they usually have good support away.

In England, they have their parks leagues on Sundays or Saturday mornings so more fans can make games on Saturdays...

I know Cardiff City fans who prefer to play football at the moment for a number of reasons.

Nothing to do with the rebrand

I think there will be about 22,000 there on saturday. If it was'nt for the rebrand, there would be at least 24,000. Anyone who thinks the rebrand has'nt affected our crowds is deluded.

Re: " THIS SATURDAY CARDIFF CITY "

Tue Nov 13, 2012 6:39 pm

We should be selling out a game like this, near top of the league and playing a promotion rival.

That's not far off 10%.

So you are suggesting 1 out of every ten fans who attended last season, don't attend this season because of the rebrand??

Got my tickets ready, cant wait! :ayatollah:

Re: " THIS SATURDAY CARDIFF CITY "

The rebrand is just another reason, along with the recession and what I believe can only be described as supporters in general falling out of love with the game and all it has become.

I reckon 600 max from Boro, how many would we take this time of they year to them?
We only took 500 last year towards the end of the season, but we all had a brilliant trip. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

There is going to be a topic on our drop on attendances everyday.

People blaming the rebrand are basically fools.

Great we have a bumper crowd. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

This live demand ticket system isnt helping either. Its put many people off, especially those who decide they want to goto the game the day before.

I know there are some advantages, such as buy early and get cheaper prices. Even though I got a season ticket, I still find it difficult planning to goto every home game.

I reckon the club should have a minimum pricing and a maximum set price such as £25. So if you buy early it will cost £17, and then it can raise to a maximum £25 on matchday. I bet 90% off fans have been put off by high ticket prices on match day, especially due to people struggling financially.

In my opinion the club should review the live demand ticket system....in theory its great, but there should be a maximum price in place.

i think your right,

i was looking on their forum and as of monday they had only sold 200! some fans were complaining that they took 2000 to soton last season so new excuses "the new boro" others are saying wales and away no thanks!

i dont think they will bring much more than 5-600...

boro quotes

"Not sure what less than a thousand equates to. We'd sold 200 by Monday afternoon so expect there's plenty left"

~To be fair, who doesn't switch off when you here the words 'away day' and 'Wales' in the same sentence?

their crowds at home are improving but the scheme they had was two for one which they are doing again for bristol city and huddersfield.. buy 1 ticket for the saturday game and get a complimentary ticket for the tues night game!

if you go into buy tickets, it brings you up a layout of the ground. hover over each section of the ground and it gives u the number of seats left in that section..

still showing just over 3000tkts left for this fixture.. the majority in the canton stand and corners. ninian has seats here and there, same for the grand stand..

ticket prices now £26 in the ninian and £29 in the canton.
