Just noticed that if AFC Wimbledon win their FA Cuo game they will meet MK Dons. Pretty ironic that.
Mon Nov 12, 2012 8:21 pm
I read somewhere that AFC Wimbledon don't want to play them.
My money is on they will lose.

It would be interesting in SW17, mostly Chelsea but a good few ex-Wimbledon fans. Some gave up on football completely, quite a few used to travel to Milton Keynes but got bullied by the locals so more or less gave up. I still have a house in SW17 (and a wife, but we'll say no more about that!) so as you say ironic, a good few tidy chaps as they say wouldn't mind an excuse to visit the MK Dons.

Wimbledon just scored and York are down to 10.
Mon Nov 12, 2012 8:39 pm
York are hammering them even with 10

Bit of a game and hell of a tie

People have been saying for years that it is the next big derby, even if it is artificially created. That is going to be a massive game, heh.

I can imagine a real hatred
Mon Nov 12, 2012 11:03 pm
It might not be genuine hatred, but I would still say that (assuming MK Dons beat Cambridge), this will be one of the highest profile non Premiership/Championship games for a long time.
Mon Nov 12, 2012 11:16 pm
Agreed. Has potential to be a big game!
Mon Nov 12, 2012 11:21 pm
Going to sell out in minutes!
Mon Nov 12, 2012 11:26 pm
There will be genuine hatred and rightly so.
Spoke to a number of AFC fans over the years and them and Clydebank are very similar models. I know that if we ever got the chance to play Airdrie United there would be mayhem and I can see the same here. Hope AFC can do the business if it comes off. There shouldn't be an MK Dons in the guise they are in. It's embarrasing that they hung on to the Dons part of the name - there is no shame or regret there and for what - a shitty league 1 club.
One ground I would never pay into. Wouldn't even give them the steam off my next shit.

Why not?
Off course they do. Even if they lose it's hell of an achievement from them as it's a big f**k YOU to MK dons, it's remarkable what they have done as a club. I lost the little respect I had with MK dons when they used Wimbledons history as their own, thankfully they have given back the FA cup to it's rightful owner.

sure the history has gone back to wimbledon.mk 4.1 up.the dons derby is on.mk should sack the dons bit.they are an established team rightly or wrongly.they should cut the aggro and ditch the name

So you're a fan of franchise football?
Tue Nov 13, 2012 11:25 pm
Was the funniest thing about this the fact that people on "the other board" were planning to bet on Cambridge, with the thinking that, 'something always prevents the tie from happening'. I expect they thought they were betting on (non league) Cambridge Utd,but it wasn't even them, but Cambridge City!....wonder what it will be like getting tickets for the Dons Derby?
Tue Nov 13, 2012 11:46 pm
C'mon Wimbledon! Hope they smash up that franchise club!

MK Dons booked an FA Cup second-round grudge match with AFC Wimbledon after hitting non-league Cambridge City for six in their replay.
Two goals from Shaun Williams combined with efforts from James O'Shea, Dean Bowditch, Dele Ali and Adam Chicksen to set up a first-ever clash with the Dons' London namesakes at stadium:mk; Dave Theobald netted City's consolation.
The Dons controlled the first half, and Williams scored a brilliant goal to break the deadlock after 12 minutes, lobbing keeper Zac Barrett with a dipping left-foot drive from 40 yards.
Ryan Lowe had a shot cleared off the line by Lee Chaffey and O'Shea hit the crossbar before doubling the lead two minutes prior to the break, jinking into the box to curl the ball past Barrett.
Bowditch then made it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time, firing home from a tight angle after Barrett had parried Lowe's fierce shot.
Theobald nodded in Luke Allen's cross from close range on the hour mark to give Cambridge hope but Williams' penalty, Ali's 25-yard screamer and substitute Chicksen's solo goal sealed the rout.

Would be a brilliant game to attend! Any idea when the game is?

Sadly MK will batter them. I watched AFC the other night and they are
f*cking crap.

Yeah and the depressing thing is that it will be symbolic of today's game as a whole. Modern football with all its lack of soul and heart stamping all over the olden days. Wouldn't it be bloody romantic if AFC Wimbledon did do it though?

Went to watch AFC Wimbledon against Forest green once and was saying to a bloke there about how badly they had been treated............he then told me that wimbledon had tucked up Kinstonian fc in a similar fashion.

You would think so, but then last week I watched Barcelona destroy Celtic and lose to route 1 football. You just never know.

I don't think it was that similar but I do recall it was a stadium issue?

Oh absolutely but I just fear they will get hammered.
Once they get this game out of the way, and then this season, MK should do the honourable thing and get rid of the Dons part of their name.
Theyve got league football in the town (or is it a city?), Wimbledon are back to where they were, just draw a line under it and move on.
Wed Nov 14, 2012 4:36 pm
And everyone thought we would get a hammering from Leeds in the FA Cup.
