He's been a key player this season. Always putting his body on the line and his work rate is phenomenal at the age of 35. He deserves a lot of credit for that and hope all his hard work will pay off come to the end of the season.

Totally agree! Unfortunately, there are others that don't which is strange.

I agree. Player of the season so far.

Definitely an unsung hero of the current team. He could well be here at the end of the season, celebrating with us.
Fingers crossed.

One of those shrewd signings by Malky, doesn't get the publicity of Maynard, Bellamy or Mutch but does twice the job on the pitch. Great player

taking it a bit too far!
but he has been good this season, especially in the last few matches.
has played way more minutes than i expected this season, though im sure maynards injury has something to do with that.

He would've played alongside Maynard. I'm sure that was the plan.

probably right, but i doubt he would have quite played as much football if maynard was here, anyway, irrelevent really

My only frustration with HH is a number of times he has his back to goal, does the hard work, brings the ball down, gets in under control in space and passes to the other team
But the positives out weight the minor negative, his fitness is excellent for someone 35 (Mason can learn a lot from him).
His goal saturday about summed him up

The frustration there lies with the lack of support, rather than his shortcomings, though, I would say.

At times maybe but not always, at times these are basic passes that just go astray.
Its not a major thing because he is always so involved so he is more likely to make a mistake than someone like Mason who doesnt get quite as involved.

I felt Saturday was a turning point for Helguson with the fans - and probably as much to do with him getting battered as scoring a great goal. He can be frustrating - ball bounces off him into touch etc - but once he came back on after his injury the fans were right behind him. Plenty of banter in my bit of the Ninian about him, which is always a good sign.
Bothroyd was a class apart in terms of skill, pace, power in the shot, but I know who I'd prefer in my team every week, and that is the Icelandic warrior.

he deserves his praise at the moment.... 17 apps and 7 goals isnt too bad either.. agree with other posts mind, i dont think he would have played this much had maynard been fit and i still think we need another striker..
so far this season i wouldnt say our best player, but a decent signing none the less and a very good workrate considering 35!
7/10 so far for me..

People have been saying we need a 20 goals a season striker. If he plays the rest of the season at his current rate of appearances and goals he won't be far away.
7 goals divided by 17 appearances = 0.4117647058823529 goals per game
0.4117647058823529 goals per game x 48 total games inc. 1 Capital One and 1 FA Cup = 19.76470588235294
Bearing in mind a lot of strikers also take free kicks and penalties, this would be a great return from him. He might not end up getting 20 goals this season, but he IS scoring at the rate of a '20-goal a season striker'. Just saying.

He's 35 playing in the most diffucult division in the English Leagues.
Hes picked up 7 goals and to keep going at his age is fantastic.
I understand the critics because they masterbate to death over the fast and pacey strikers.
Players of Helguson role and his ability don't get enough praise.
Bringing the ball down and winning balls in the air as a striker isn't a easy job.
If the service is right which it is then he will get goals.
