Heating vouchers?

It is interesting to know that today if you are over 60 and benefits you get a £200 payment to help with heating costs. The guy at the post office (who is a misserable git at the best of times) said he's been really busy this morning with loads of over-60's coming in for their money.

Out of all of them, not one put a penny extra on their gas or electric cards from that payment.

You dont have to have a pre pay meter maybe they pay quarterly

What you seem to be implying is that money should only be used on the purchase of gas and electric?I know plenty of people than have to make hard choices between heating and eating and other essentials so that money just makes it a bit easier.Perish the thought that some people make moral judgements on the back of some miserable busy body let alone comment on how they should be living.

The payment is made for heating so that's what it should be spent on. Simples. The house just by me came home with a new tele last year when they got it. I wonder what they'll buy this year?

Young people who need stuff for the home etc get vouchers rather than cash. Are they saying that young people will waste cash yet old people won't? That's all they've got to do is make the payment as Swalec et al vouchers.

I'd like to know which post office this Is the bloke seems a nosy old bugger giving out people's details it makes you wonder what other info he gives out about the people he serves

yep mrs works in post office and it goes straight into their post office benefits account

Perhaps they have been falling behind on bills, just to keep their house warm. You dont know.

I know some that donate there winter fuel allowance to charity as they are very comfortable.

Every one over 60 gets it you don't have to be on benefits.

its the least we can do, and despite this you'll still get poor old people freezing in their houses this year, many pensioners can ill afford the latest price hikes by the big 6 energy companies, though i agree it should be paid directly to the energy companies

Look pal you obviously haven't done your homework-I got a 50in flat screen tele and it gives off as much heat as a radiator so your neighbours were justified in buying that tele-simples
