After Tuesdays capitulation against Charlton, Nathan Blake called for Hudson to be stripped of the captaincy, I didn't agree with that statement at the time and obviously it upset Malky also. In an interview after the game yesterday Malky said "He leads by example, scores important goals for the club and defends to a man."
"Yes, Tuesday night he didn't have a good night, but is that quickly forgotten about when people call for your captain's armband to be stripped off. I find that a disgrace."
I think Hudson has continued to excel during his time at City, he was once the target for plenty of criticism among the supporters during his first season but he rose above it and has gone strength to strength.

My player of the season so far, his defending and reading of the game make up for his lack of pace, while also scoring plenty of goals. 3 this season.
I don't know if anyone else noticed but once Watford went down to 9 men he got most of the team together for a mini team talk. That's the sign of a captain

Surprised Blakey made that statement TBH and yet again Malky shows his nous in supporting his player. Its the kind of comment I'd expect to find on here but Blakey being an ex-player should know better.

He's better than Rodger Johnson in my opinion , here's why, he defends just as good , scores more goals and his distribution is better , he passes the ball just as good as most midfielders

Blake just like attention.
Hudson has been brilliant this season and last.

Fair play, Blake doesn't half talk some sh1t.
Has he ever been a captain himself ?
There's more to the job than 'being the best player'. Hudson is superb off the field as well as on it, as anyone who's been down to the training ground would know. He's mature and responsible, sensible and level headed. Not stuff you would have associated with Blake during his career.
Blake's a City legend and great player, also when he talks about technical aspects of the game and things which as a non pro-footballer we may not know his articles are very interesting.
However when it gets onto things which need a more general intelligence, a bit of logic and knowledge of how the world works he shows himself up.
2 weeks ago he was claiming we'd get 100 points, then after Bolton we were rubbish and wouldn't go up.

Just a typical city fan then

I don't rate Hudson at all but Nathan Blakes written garbage I rate even less . He's not the brightest to form opinion in the press

There's been good and bad with Hudson and if you haven't seen that, then you're blind.
In my opinion, when we've been up against it, he's flapped and has let us down and hasn't led, Wembley Play Off Final being a prime example.
Yes, he played well against Hull but they were poor and Boro will be much stronger.

Haven't got a problem with your opinions (even though I might not agree !!) but to describe Hull as poor is surprising to say the least

Mackay: Hudson winner shows his worth

Cardiff boss Malky Mackay hailed the performance of captain Mark Hudson after his late winner earned an eighth straight home victory on Saturday.
The 30-year-old centre-back came under criticism - along with a number of other Bluebirds players - after the shock 5-4 defeat to Hudson's former club Charlton last week.
The defender responded in the best possible manner with a fine display capped by the 82nd minute winner - his 10th goal for Cardiff.
"He leads by example and scores important goals for our football club," Mackay told the Bluebirds' official website.
"I received questions querying Mark Hudson and his worth to the football club. You will not see his worth to the football club until he leaves the football club and that will not be under me. He has had 15 months under me where he has been exceptional both on and off the pitch."
Cardiff's perfect home record will come under scrutiny on Saturday when second-place Middlesbrough, a side one point and one place above the Bluebirds, make the long trip to South Wales.

Sounds good enough to me.
It's not surprise he has been captain under so many managers and at so many clubs?
People think it's all about shouting but it's not, it's about respect. Gerrard would shout shout shout but unless you respect the person you won't listen.
Blake has embarrassed himself massively over this.

Can't agree with this bit, as many people on here and elsewhere have foolishly (IMO) called for Malky's head over some of the away performances we've put in this season, where our defence shipped a ridiculous amount of goals in losing at Bristol City, Palace & Charlton in particular!
Surely if people are within their right to question Malky over the team he put out on the pitch and conceded some shocking goals, then Blake and other people have a right to question a player, who is supposed to be marshalling the back four, especially with the performance at Charlton, where even allowing for Marshall's 2 howlers, we allowed Charlton to score 3 goals from uncontested headers in the middle of our defence?

I was a big critic of his in his first season with us, he looked slow and was prone to so many lapses that it cost us many goals.
However, I agree Carl that he is growing into a very impressive player and a good captain. I usually agree with Nathan Blakes column but thought the reaction to the Charlton loss was misplaced.... YES we have a huge problem playing away, yes we capitulate away and yes it is something that urgently needs to b addressed - BUT the problem is certainly not with Hudson. I looked at the midfield and thought it was a weak one away from home and teams have been easily been getting crosses in from our full-back positions. There is a also an issue with team mentality away from home, I feel that with the personnel we have we could be a little more arrogant and more confident (although not complacent aka Jones era) and go and batter teams, rather than the tepid and nervous team we seem to be.
Anyway, Hudson is gaining a reputation similar to that of Darren Purse, not a local but giving his all and becoming Mr Cardiff City.
