Spare a thought for them, who knows what sort of world we would be living in today with out them who fought for a once proud country. These people will be turning in there graves to see what these british shores have become.

No minutes silence yesterday either which i found rather odd considering most other clubs did

Exactly.
Minutes silences for coppers but not for our war heros.
My eldest daughter is doing some gig with the brownies later. Its important the younger generations are taught about the sacrificies our elders made.

I agree that there should have been a minutes silence yesterday, and that we do have far too many (especially these "applauses") for other events, which diminishes the ones that we should really focus on.

Here here pal. In five years time we will have silences and clapping before games because a players got the flu ffs

Personally, i dont think there should have been one yesterday at any grounds.....it wasnt armistice day or rememberance sunday.
Granted, any team actually playing on the day could observe one, then again, i dont know why we need a minutes silence to remember what happened. All these minutes silences are getting a bit silly, as someone pointed out earlier making the real events that have them seem lost.

They didn't have one yesterday because they didn't want to take the focus of the Royal Welsh lads that were leading out the teams - that's according to Barrie McAuliffe City media manager.

That is hastly made up excuse and frankly bollocks, the minutes silence is after the teams are led out. Seems like the club are already skirming on this one. Forgetfulness or a very poor decision most of us would like a satisfactory answer.

I just been down the Cenotaf in Merthyr and frankly I am disgusted.
I was one of only 12 people there. Only 2 servicemen and an old boy in a wheelchair.
No official ceremony. Uttery disgusted.

Council will not pay for it sadly. Although they can stick big giant pieces of steel up that are supposed to be ART costing 120k each scattered around merthyr roundabouts and other places

Sorry, didn't mean it to come across that I was looking for attention - just meant that we should be grateful for their sacrifices, wherever we are and whatever the time of year

Went to my dads grave this morning he lost 2 brothers in the 2nd world war and he never forgot what they and so many others gave to allow us to live the lives we do today. My dad was a marine during the war and considered himself "one of the lucky ones to come home". I always think this speech says it all about the national pride and determination that got us through those terrible times.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4BVzYGe ... ure=fvwrelTruely our finest hour and even today our brave armed forces continue to give everything to serve and protect us. God Bless every one of them past and present.

Both my parents were in the RAF during the 2nd World War, I know how much it meant to them, our forces past and present who have lost their lives across the world should never be forgot, I'm an ex-terrier and I wear my poppy with pride.
