People should be banned from supporting non local teams

Sun Nov 11, 2012 4:16 am

If you're from South Wales you should support a South Wales team. If you are from Lancashire you can support a Lancashire team and are only eligible for tickets for teams from there. That would stop all the South Wales plastics supporting London and Manchester and Liverpool and even some wearing Madrid tops before City.

They should take a record of where you lived for the first few years of your life and then you get to register for a club in that area so people in South Wales could support Cardiff, Swansea, Newport or Welsh League teams.

You should not be allowed to support English clubs and these people should be blacklisted and banned from Sky TV. :old:

Better still, called a C U N T by anyone who is Welsh born and bred and has any self-respect.

Stupid post, so if I moved to Dorset 16 years ago am I supposed to support Bournemouth. My daughters were born down here but are massive city fans, are they not allowed to support Cardiff too.

I agree with the principle of supporting your local team. How can anyone have an affinity to a club that's not closest to them? Applies to anyone who lives closer to Merthyr but follows Cardiff in my opinion

I live closest to Alloa Athletic, so try telling me I shouldn't support Cardiff City!

As an expat in the same situation as you I believe the OP should extend the rules to accomodate such as all newborns to s qualified Cardiff fan should attend a City game buy the time they are 5. I was going to say 6 months but as my twins where 5 then I agree to that.

This is obviously aimed at people who have no link or affiliation with a said club eg Liverpool yet claim their undying love for said club.

I know of a lad in Porthcawl that claims to be biggest MUFC fan ever, yet never even set foot in Manchester before. Bizarre.

If they don't want to support Cardiff then I wouldn't want them supporting Cardiff. I like the fact people turn up to support our team because they want to. I don't care about the plastics. What they do is their decision.

So you'd force people with no interest in Cardiff to 'support' them? Good logic. What about those born elsewhere (like myself)? What about people whose family all support a specific team? Or those that live elsewhere?

The rule should basically if you are born in the Cardiff area you cannot support another team but Cardiff. If you are born outside the Cardiff province the rule should not apply. Can't be any fairer than that.

Surrely you should be able to support whoever you want regardless of birthplace?

We are trying to eliminate the plastics here.

No, you're trying to get them to support city. I for one wouldn't want them to. If they want to support United or Liverpool then that's fine by me. I am concerned with CCFC and other people's allegience isn't important.
