How many gay footballers

Wikipedia says there are no gay footballers in any of the top flight divisions. I only know of one player who has ever admitted to being gay, and that is Justin Fashanu, who committed suicide.

I would be willing to bet that there would be a similar number of footballers who would come out as saying they had ever been involved in a rigged game.

My other half was watching a program on gay football players hosted by Fashanu's sister last year, apparently there's a few she was saying, but they wouldn't give her an interview, so instead she interviewed brighton fans/players and showed the abuse there fans took at away games.

correct.i havn,t a problem with gays but if it,s a gays right to come out then it,s a hetrosexuals right not to want to shower with him.also say a 16/17 year old is classed as a minor.that means if a kid gets a first team debut really he should shower away from the adult men.imagine if he was put in a shower with a gay player?if someone wanted to create they would have a field day

Off course some idiots will give him abuse but I will not as I would admire him for coming out in what is perceived to be a tough enviroment. I really do not think they will get that much abuse as the media surrounding him will be insane, you would have to be stupid to say anything to him as theres a huge chance that you will be made an example of.

Also the problem with the closeted footballers not coming out is that it leads to speculation over other players such as the one allegedly in your team. JTC, would you have a problem if a Birmingham player came out as gay?
