A history of conceding soft goals

Malkys summer transfer dealings were basically all offensive based players, every time a new signing was announced it was like 'what another striker? another midfielder?" Yet despite the boring awful hoofball tactics of last season, it was still there to see, the inherited Dave Jones backline plus Turner and Taylor, and just as it had affected Jones , SOFT GOALS conceded regularly, in between there may have been some heroic exceptions like the cup run, but soft goals nonetheless, particularly from players getting round the back to the bye line, free headers like tonight, and unmarked shots in and around the six yard box.

Yet Connolly aside no investment in the defence game and I include a protecting defensive midfielder in that conundrum. And this from an ex centre half manager. I like Malky, but as a manager still as unconvinced as I was all last season. Curtis Davies, Chambers, Clyne surely they would have come if we threw the money at them like we did at Bellamy and Maynard and Mutch.

Charlton didnt have to work to hard to score 5 against a multi million pound outfit did they? Malky out? No not yet, but he is on a verbal warning for me, please turn it around son and soon.

Any good manager always starts to build a team from the back.

Malky reminds me of me on football manager. All out attack and F the defence. It doesn't work on FM and it don't work real time.

Meant to put that bit in about historic injuries with the signings made, good shout. Spot on.

A manager gets judged on results of course he does, but also his signings. And the summer signings were way imbalanced and is costing us precious points
